Jered Weaver will start for the AL in Tuesday's All-Star game.
With Justin Verlander and James Shields ineligible to pitch because they're starting Sunday, Weaver is the obvious choice. The lanky right-hander sports a nifty 1.86 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 120 strikeouts to go along with an 11-4 record.

Jered Weaver went the distance Thursday as the Angels topped the Mariners 5-1.
Weaver pitched a six-hitter for his 11th win of the year. He's allowed a total of four runs over 40 innings in his last five starts, and he's now back leading the majors with a 1.86 ERA. Jair Jurrjens was in front of him at 1.87.

Jered Weaver earned his 10th win by limiting the Dodgers to a run over eight innings on Saturday.
Weaver struck out eight and walked two in the gem, which moved him to 5-2 against the Dodgers lifetime. He's now won four straight after winning six and then losing four to begin the season. His 1.92 ERA ranks second in baseball behind Jair Jurrjens' 1.89 mark.

Jeff Weaver hurled seven innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers Sunday, but ended up with a no-decision.
Unfortunately for Weaver, he was up against a dominant Clayton Kershaw. He struck out four, walked one and scattered seven hits while throwing 110 pitches. It's the third straight start that Weaver has allowed one earned run or less and his ERA is back under 2.00 at 1.97. He's slated to face the Dodgers again next week.

Jered Weaver sent the Marlins to their 11th straight loss on Monday, allowing just one run on five hits in seven innings of a 2-1 Angels victory.
He out-dueled Anibal Sanchez, who permitted just one unearned run in seven innings of work. Weaver has now won three of his past four starts after going winless in May. Through 116 1/3 innings, he is the owner of a 2.01 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia is not concerned with Jered Weaver being overworked.
Weaver currently leads the majors with 1,735 pitches thrown and has tossed 100 pitches or more in all 15 of his starts this season. "If he was not bouncing back between starts, if he wasn't throwing his bullpens, if he was out of his mechanics, that would be a sign you're over-extending him," said Scioscia. "That hasn't been the case." While Weaver isn't piling up the strikeouts like he did last year, he still owns a very shiny 2.08 ERA to go along with an outstanding 0.93 WHIP.
