Vargas gave up one run on three hits and three walks across 5.1 innings during Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Reds. He struck out five but did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Vargas has now allowed one run on three hits in each of his last three starts, though Tuesday's performance was the first of which he was able to complete five innings. The 36-year-old is unlikely to generate significant appeal for fantasy purposes, but he has nonetheless turned things around after an ugly start to the year. Vargas will carry a 5.75 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 15:12 K:BB into his next start Sunday at Milwaukee.

Vargas (1-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Mets fell 6-0 to the Phillies, giving up one run on three hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw threw 89 pitches (53 strikes) before getting the hook, the third straight start in which Vargas hasn't been able to complete even five innings. He's chipped his ERA down to 7.20 with his last couple of outings, but his 10:9 K:BB through 15 innings is still poor. Unless the Mets can find a better option, Vargas will next take the mound Tuesday, at home against the Reds.

Vargas didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 win over the Cardinals, giving up one run on three hits and three walks over four innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the fact that he received extra rest after his last start, an outing in which he recorded only one out, Vargas got a fairly early hook after throwing 75 pitches (41 strikes). The Mets continue to publicly stand by the veteran southpaw as their fifth starter, but his 9.58 ERA and 6:7 K:BB through 10.1 innings keep him well off the fantasy radar. If Vargas stays on schedule, his next trip to the mound will come Wednesday, at home against the Phillies.

Vargas is scheduled to start Friday against the Cardinals, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vargas was originally slated to start Saturday before Jacob deGrom came down with a bout of strep throat. The southpaw, who owns a 14.21 ERA and 2.84 WHIP through 6.1 innings this season, will still be pitching on extra of rest thanks to Thursday's off day.

Vargas will make his next start Saturday against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vargas has allowed 10 runs on 14 hits over 6.1 innings through his first two starts of the season, but the Mets will keep him in the starting rotation for now. The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise, since Thursday's off day could allow the veteran left-hander to be skipped without needing an additional starter. According to DiComo, the team has not yet considered replacing Vargas in the rotation.

Vargas didn't factor into the decision Saturday, coughing up four runs on two hits and three walks while recording only one out during an 11-7 loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty avoided his first loss of the year when the Mets struck back for four runs in the top of the second inning, but that's about the only thing that went right for Vargas on the night. He'll carry a woeful 14.21 ERA into his next outing, currently set for Friday in St. Louis.

Vargas will have his spot in the rotation skipped and will no longer pitch Tuesday against the Twins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets have a scheduled day off Monday which led to Vargas' spot skipped in favor of Jacob deGrom, who will be coming off five days of rest. Vargas will take the mound again next Saturday in Atlanta.

Vargas (1-0) allowed two earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two across five innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Vargas wasn't dominant but managed to maintain the 5-0 lead handed to him in the first inning. He allowed five extra-base hits, resulting in him frequently working out of jams. He also had some batted ball luck on his side, whiffing only two but stranding five runners in scoring position. That said, despite the decent line, Vargas didn't show any standout skills in his first start of the season.

Vargas gave up four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over four-plus innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty was in firm control through four frames, but faded badly in the fifth. Vargas now sports a 3.65 ERA and 12:4 K:BB through 12.1 spring innings as he prepares to handle the Mets' fifth starter role this season.

Vargas tossed four scoreless innings in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros, scattering three hits and striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
While he wasn't facing Houston's best lineup -- Michael Brantley, Yuli Gurriel and Josh Reddick were the biggest names in the starting nine for the home squad -- Vargas still put together a very impressive outing. The veteran southpaw now has a 1.08 ERA and sharp 8:2 K:BB through 8.1 spring frames as he looks to try and rebound from a rough 2018 and give the Mets solid innings at the back of the rotation.
