Jason Hammel was a tough-luck loser Monday, permitting just two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out five, with the lone blemish coming in the form of an Eric Chavez homer. It's yet another impressive outing from Hammel, especially considering the lineup and venue. He finishes April with a surprising a 1.97 ERA and 1.03 WHIP and is looking like a legit mixed league play. Hammel will have a tough matchup against either the Red Sox or Rangers the next time out.

Jason Hammel fanned 10 while allowing two runs over six innings Thursday in a win over the White Sox. It's nice to see Hammel's strikeout rate coming back, though he's certainly not going to reach double figures very often. He's looking like a pretty good AL-only starter with his 2-0 record and 2.37 ERA to date.

Jason Hammel pitched well, allowing two runs on six hits against the Blue Jays on Saturday, but he did not factor into the decision. Hammel struck out three and walked just one in the game. He labored throughout the day and needed 100 pitches to make in through the fifth inning. He did manage to leave as the pitcher of record, though the Orioles bullpen surrendered the lead shortly after. Hammel will again search for his second victory when he takes on the White Sox in Chicago next week.

Orioles acquired RHP Jason Hammel and RHP Matt Lindstrom from the Rockies for RHP Jeremy Guthrie. Hammel posted an ugly 4.76 ERA and a career-low 5.0 K/9 in 170 1/3 innings last season for the Rockies. Getting out of the thin air in Colorado would typically help most pitchers, but Camden Yards plays quite small and the American League East is a far better offensive division than the National League West. Hammel won't carry much fantasy value this year.

Jason Hammel tossed seven innings of two-run ball in Saturday's 4-2 victory over the Astros. Hammel limited the Rockies to three hits, striking out three batters and walking just one. He'll finish the season with a 7-13 record, 4.85 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 91/67 K/BB ratio. Those aren't ideal numbers, but he's likely got a spot locked up in the 2012 Colorado starting rotation anyway.

Troy Renck of The Denver Post writes that Jason Hammel "appears more likely to be in the rotation next spring than not." That wasn't the case just a month ago, when he was booted from the rotation. But, Hammel has rebounded to pitch well of late, including in a spot start earlier this month. He's due $4.75 million next season and, despite some inconsistencies, may have more value to the Rockies as a starter than what he would bring in a trade.

Jason Hammel pitched seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks Tuesday. He struck out six and gave up six hits and a walk. Hammel started in place of Jhoulys Chacin, who had his start skipped due to a case of swollen tonsils. It was Hammel's first start since he was booted from the rotation in mid-August. Expected to be booted back into a long relief role after tonight's start, perhaps the strong outing earned him another look.

Jason Hammel will start Tuesday in place of Jhoulys Chacin. Chacin is having his start skipped due to a case of swollen tonsils. It will be Hammel's first start since he was booted from the rotation in mid-August, but it figures to only be a spot start before he returns to a long relief role.
