The Rockies will likely attempt to trade Jason Hammel over the winter, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. Alex White replaced Hammel in the rotation, so the veteran is expandable. Hammel will serve as the longman in the bullpen for now.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy has announced that Alex White will replace Jason Hammel in the rotation on Tuesday against the Astros. We predicted as much after Hammel was torched again Friday for six runs over three innings of work, pushing his post-All-Star break ERA all the way up to 8.41. Hammel will moved into a bullpen role but might eventually have a shot to break back into the rotation if Esmil Rogers doesn't turn things around.

Jason Hammel was lit up by the Dodgers Friday, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over just three innings. This comes after one of Hammel's best outings of the season, when he held the Cardinals to just one run over 6 1/3 innings last Saturday. But, it certainly doesn't come out of nowhere, as he permitted six runs in his previous two starts and eight runs back on July 23, giving him a hideous post-break ERA of 8.41. It's possible Hammel could get the boot next week when Alex White is expected to join the rotation.

Jason Hammel was tagged for six runs in five innings by the Phillies on Wednesday. So much for those good feelings left over from last week's win against the Padres. Hammel has allowed at least six runs in four of his last six starts, and his ERA stands at 4.88. He can't be used in NL-only leagues right now.

Jason Hammel beat the Padres by allowing two runs in 6 1/3 innings on Friday. He did get some help from five different relievers, who combined to protect a 3-2 lead in the game. It was just the third win for Hammel since the end of April and his second quality start in five tries during July. He's had a rough go of it, but now that he's getting more strikeouts -- 12 in his last two starts -- he might go back to being a useful NL-only starter.

Jason Hammel was pounded for eight runs in 5 2/3 innings by the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Hammel has allowed at least six runs in four of his last seven starts, and he's now 5-10 with a 4.75 ERA for the season. As much as his strikeout rate has eroded, a rebound doesn't seem all that likely.

Jason Hammel picked up his fifth win Friday, holding the Nationals to two runs on five hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings in a 3-2 win. Hammel's numbers have been trending in the wrong direction after a strong April, but he was good in this one. The righty lowered his road ERA on the year to 3.39 ERA versus a 4.92 mark at home, numbers that aren't surprise but are a reverse of what he did last year.

Jason Hammel ended up with a no-decision after yielding two earned runs over seven innings Tuesday against the White Sox. He actually had an identical box score to his counterpart Gavin Floyd, allowing six hits and two walks while not striking out anyone. Entering Tuesday, Hammel had three consecutive non-quality starts and four in his last five outings. That streak is now over. He'll take a 4.02 ERA and 1.37 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Royals.

Jason Hammel allowed four runs on five hits and five walks in six innings of work on Wednesday evening, falling to 4-7 in Colorado's 4-3 setback against the Indians. He struck out four, and surrendered what would prove to be the game-winning two-run homer to Travis Hafner in the sixth inning. The non-quality start was his third straight, and fourth in five outings.
