Shuster had a 5.81 ERA over 52.2 innings (11 starts) with Atlanta last season, and he seems likely to receive a look with the White Sox at some point in 2024 given the organization's poor rotation depth.

Getz did say that he's not done in seeking starting pitchers additions this winter, but as it stands right now Shuster and Soroka would seem to have a good shot to play a prominent role. Shuster held an ugly 5.81 ERA and 30:26 K:BB across 52.2 innings for Atlanta in 2023, but he's just 25 and a first-round pick.

Shuster was traded from Atlanta to the White Sox on Thursday along with Michael Soroka (forearm), Braden Shewmake, Nicky Lopez and Riley Gowens in exchange for Aaron Bummer.

Despite a track record of success in the minors, Shuster likely would have been a longshot to break camp in the majors with Atlanta as a result of his struggles, but he should have a more substantial opportunity to make a big-league impact with his new club.
