The White Sox recalled Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Shuster was sent down to Triple-A on Friday, but he'll now come right back up to the majors to replace Tyler Gilbert (knee), who landed on the injured list Saturday. Shuster hasn't been very effective with Chicago this season, giving up nine earned runs in 10.2 innings while posting a 9:3 K:BB.

The White Sox optioned Shuster to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Shuster has managed just a 7.59 ERA over eight appearances out of Chicago's bullpen this season. He's fared much better at Charlotte, where he's allowed only two runs with a 15:3 K:BB over 11.1 innings.

The White Sox recalled Shuster from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The White Sox will call upon Shuster to provide the big-league club with some additional pitching depth while Martin Perez (elbow) moves to the injured list. Shuster has been used exclusively as a reliever in the minors this year, turning in a 1.59 ERA through 11.1 innings.

The White Sox optioned Shuster to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shuster hasn't fared well this spring, getting touched up for nine runs on 15 hits and one walk over seven frames. The left-hander was used mostly as a reliever with the White Sox last season but could be stretched back out as a starter in Charlotte.

Shuster will build up his pitch count this spring while competing for a rotation spot with the White Sox, Steve Stockmar of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shuster has had experience as both a starter and reliever at the big-league level, though he was used nearly exclusively out of the bullpen by the White Sox in 2024. That could change in the current campaign, as he'll work to build up his pitch count, beginning with a Cactus League outing Saturday. While acknowledging those plans, manager Will Venable didn't commit to Shuster beginning the 2025 campaign in the rotation.

Shuster came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Angels, giving up one hit and striking out one over three scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old lefty was making his fourth start in 37 big-league appearances this season, and the three frames represented Shuster's biggest workload since a four-inning relief stint July 26. He's put together decent numbers in a swingman role this year, posting a 4.35 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 52:29 K:BB through 70.1 innings, but it's not clear whether the White Sox will give him another crack at winning a full-time spot in the rotation next spring.

Shuster is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Angels, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shuster will take the hill first for the White Sox in what's likely to be a bullpen day featuring a parade of relievers once the left-hander exits the contest. Considering that he's worked two-plus innings in seven of his last 11 appearances, Shuster should be able to offer more length than the typical opening pitcher, but he's still unlikely to work deep enough into the contest to qualify for a win.

Shuster (1-4) took the loss against Cleveland on Monday, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out five batters over 2.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Though Shuster was deemed an opener for the contest, he tossed 47 pitches, 35 of which were strikes. That good control helped him finish with five punchouts and no walks, but the southpaw also gave up three extra-base hits, including a solo homer to David Fry. Shuster has tossed at least two frames in 20 of his 35 appearances this season, making him a logical candidate to work as an opener -- which he's now done three times this season -- when the White Sox decide to go that route.

Shuster will be the White Sox's opening pitcher in Monday's game against the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shuster is stretched out to go multiple innings, if needed, but Nick Nastrini is a prime candidate to cover the bulk of the frames in the series opener. Shuster is opening a game for the third time this season after allowing two earned runs over 3.2 innings in the first two outings.

Shuster is listed as the White Sox's opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
According to James Fegan of SoxMachine.com, White Sox manager Pedro Grifol had previously said Saturday that Chad Kuhl was likely to start Sunday's series finale, but Shuster will instead get the ball for Chicago in its final game before the All-Star break. Shuster has prior starting experience, but he's mostly worked out of the bullpen since being called up from Triple-A Charlotte on May 1, covering no more than 3.1 innings in any of his subsequent 18 appearances. He'll be taking the hill on one day rest Sunday, so Shuster is unlikely to work more than once through the batting order before turning the game over to Kuhl and the rest of the White Sox bullpen.
