Jake McGee allowed two runs in the ninth inning against the Royals but stranded the tying run to secure his sixth save of the season on Tuesday. McGee was called on to record four outs, as he retired the last batter of the eighth before staying on to finish the ninth. Three hits, including a two-run single by Salvador Perez, threatened to saddle McGee with his second blown save, but the lefty struck out Omar Infante to end the game and preserve the win. The southpaw appears to be Joe Maddon's favorite option for outs in the ninth inning, and despite Tuesday's hiccup he should be owned in all leagues where saves are counted.

Jake McGee shut down the Tigers in the ninth inning on Friday, protecting a three-run advantage and earning his fourth save of the season. Rays manager Joe Maddon refuses to settle on one option in the ninth inning and continues to play matchups to dictate which hurler will see save chances. McGee has been their best reliever all season though, registering a 1.17 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 44/9 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 innings.

Jake McGee picked up his third save of the season in the Rays' 5-4 win over the Orioles on Saturday. McGee recorded the final four outs of the game, striking out two. He also earned a save on Friday and has the ability to run away with Tampa Bay's closer gig. The 27-year-old left-hander owns a dominant 1.27 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 42/9 K/BB ratio in 35 1/3 innings this season.

Jake McGee struck out two over a perfect inning to record his second save of the season in Friday's win over the Orioles. Rays manager Joe Maddon called upon McGee with lefty Chris Davis and righties Nelson Cruz and J.J. Hardy due up, and the southpaw made quick work of them. The Rays have now had three different relievers record their last three saves (Juan Carlos Oviedo and Joel Peralta had the other two), and Maddon figures to continue to mix things up.

Jake McGee recorded his first save of the season in the Rays' 4-3 win over the Astros on Sunday. McGee had been the odds-on favorite to earn save chances after Grant Balfour's demotion, but Sunday was his first opportunity to take hold of the job. And it wasn't a matchups play, either -- McGee got right-handed Jesus Guzman and Jose Altuve before fanning lefty Jon Singleton to end the game. The southpaw has a 1.47 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 35/7 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings, and he should continue to get save chances as long as he continues to perform at this level.

Rays avoided arbitration with LHP Jake McGee be agreeing to a one-year, $1.45 million contract. It was McGee's first year of arbitration eligibility after he qualified as a Super Two player. The hard-throwing left-hander put up a 4.02 ERA but struck out 75 over 62 2/3 frames in 2013.

Jake McGee struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Thursday against the Twins for his first career save. McGee was used to close things out because Fernando Rodney was unavailable after pitching the previous three days. Joel Peralta was the other option for the ninth inning, but he helped snuff out a rally in the eighth inning.

Jake McGee (shin) is available for Friday's game against the Orioles. McGee exited Thursday's game after he was hit on the left shin with a comebacker, but the Rays were just playing things safe. It shouldn't be an issue moving forward.

Jake McGee (shin) thinks he'll be available out of the bullpen Friday. McGee was hit on the left shin by a comebacker Thursday and had to leave the game, but he only has a contusion. "I don't see why not," he said when asked if he could pitch Friday. The left-hander has a disappointing 6.45 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 26 games this season.

Jake McGee was pulled from Thursday's game against the Tigers because of a left shin contusion. McGee was struck on the shin by a Miguel Cabrera grounder. He fielded the ball and made the throw to first base but was lifted after struggling with a few warmup pitches. The left-hander is day-to-day for now.
