McGee picked up a win against the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon after tossing two scoreless innings. He struck out two. McGee (4-1, 1.33 ERA)remains the Rays' primary closer, but he is also the most reliable arm in their bullpen, and is capable of working more than one inning when the situation calls for it. The Rays employ a somewhat unconventional approach with their bullpen, and McGee is a centerpiece, so expect him to both get most of the save chances, and to regularly pitch in other high leverage scenarios.

McGee may not be available Wednesday after tossing two innings (35 pitches) in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Tigers. McGee scattered three hits and a walk but struck out three batters to keep the Tigers off the board. The 35 pitches were a season-high for McGee, besting his previous total of 32 that came just three days earlier. If a save situation arises Wednesday, look for either Brad Boxberger or Kirby Yates to get the nod.

McGee, who was unavailable Sunday due to a bruised right calf, will be able to pitch Monday in Texas, if needed, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports. McGee has taken the mound just four times in August, holding the opposition scoreless in four innings. While he hasn't received a save chance since July 28, he's aided owners with seven strikeouts during that span.

Jake McGee tallied his 11th save of 2014 as the Rays defeated the Red Sox 3-0 on Saturday. McGee pitched a perfect ninth inning, striking out two of the three batters he faced. The 27-year-old left-hander owns a superb 1.53 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and 61/10 K/BB ratio in 47 innings of relief this season and he is now running away with Tampa Bay's closer gig.

Jake McGee managed to convert his 10th save of the season Friday despite giving up one run on two hits against the Red Sox. McGee retired Shane Victorino to begin the ninth inning, but then allowed an infield single to Xander Bogaerts and a double to Jackie Bradley, Jr. before David Ross delivered a sacrifice fly. However, he struck out Brock Holt to end the threat and lock down the victory. McGee has seven saves this month and continues to be the pitcher to own in this bullpen in fantasy leagues, even if Rays manager Joe Maddon doesn't commit to a specific closer.

Jake McGee struck out the side in the ninth for his ninth save Wednesday against the Cardinals. The Rays don't want to use McGee as a full-time closer, but it just hasn't worked out very well when they've gone other routes lately. Manager Joe Maddon didn't fool around tonight, using his second best reliever, Brad Boxberger, in the eighth and then his best in the ninth to secure a 3-0 victory.

Jake McGee struck out two in a scoreless inning of work, earning his seventh save of the season against the Blue Jays on Sunday. It wasn't an entirely stress-free inning, as McGee entered with a runner on first base after David Price exited, but McGee set the Jays down in order for his seventh save. McGee now owns a 1.52 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 50/9 K/BB ratio in 41 1/3 innings, and he heads into the second half with a pretty strong hold on the Rays' closer job.

Jake McGee will be placed on the paternity leave list Friday but is expected back Sunday. McGee's wife gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday and the left-hander is going to get some time off this weekend to spend with his new family. He'll also then have the All-Star break (unless he is a late addition to the American League roster, which is a possibility). McGee owns a 1.56 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 48/9 K/BB ratio in 40 1/3 innings this season. He will be the leading candidate for saves in Tampa Bay in the second half.
