Barrett (shoulder) is expected to throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The young righty has been out since early spring training with shoulder inflammation, though it appears he's making great strides in extended spring training. Barrett will likely require a short rehab stint before he returns to the D-Backs' bullpen, but should get plenty of opportunities to build off his 2016 campaign, when he posted a 3.49 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 68 appearances.

Barrett (shoulder) is scheduled to throw an inning Tuesday during a simulated game at expended spring training, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett was placed on the 10-day disabled list to begin the season after complaining of shoulder inflammation early in spring training, which prevented him from pitching in Cactus League games. While the fact that he's now throwing in games is a positive step, Barrett will likely require several outings to build up his arm strength and make the Diamondbacks feel comfortable about activating him. He could be back with the big club by late April or early May if he incurs no setbacks with the shoulder along the way.

Barrett (shoulder) is set to throw live batting practice Wednesday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett has been dealing with shoulder inflammation this spring and has yet to throw to live hitters this season. He's currently on the 10-day disabled list and may miss more time following that stint, but his recent rehab progress is an encouraging sign.

Barrett (shoulder) is listed on the Diamondbacks' 10-day disabled list.
EDGE Analysis
According to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic, manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Barrett is "progressing very, very well" in his recovery from a shoulder injury, so he won't necessarily be in store for an extended absence to begin the season. He was scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday, after which the Diamondbacks should have a better idea about a potential return timeline.

Barrett (shoulder) will not be ready for Opening Day, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been dealing with shoulder inflammation this spring and will start the year on the disabled list. Barrett is said to be progressing well, so he should return sometime early in the first half of the season. Once healthy, he should act as one of the top setup men in one of the worst bullpens in baseball.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Barrett, who is dealing with shoulder inflammation, has progressed well and may be ready for Opening Day, Nick Piecoro of azcentral.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lovullo also noted that if Barrett isn't available Opening Day, he won't be delayed too long after. Arizona is taking it slow with the 25-year-old, but when he does return, he'll slot back into the Diamondbacks' bullpen and look to build on a rookie campaign where he posted a 3.49 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 59.1 innings.

Barrett has been diagnosed with shoulder inflammation, Joseph Jacquez of Venom Strikes reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett underwent an MRI, which revealed that his shoulder had no structural damage. The Diamondbacks have yet to establish a timeframe for his return. Rather, they're progressively increasing his throwing activity and working to regain his strength. Once healthy, Barrett is expected to take on a setup role out of Arizona's bullpen and improve off a 2016 rookie campaign that saw him post a 3.49 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 68 games (59.1 innings).

Barrett (shoulder) is behind schedule as he is experiencing stiffness in his throwing shoulder, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old is behind other pitchers in camp at this point, but it's unclear how long it will stay this way as the Diamondbacks have not yet set a time frame for his return to action. When he returns, he'll play an important role in Arizona's bullpen.

Barrett was tagged with the loss and a blown save Tuesday, as he gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) in an inning of work against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
More of the same for Barrett, who has a horrendous 12.38 ERA and 2.88 WHIP in August. He looked OK on Monday, when he recorded the hold by pitching a scoreless inning (despite two walks and two wild pitches) against the Braves. But Tuesday's results and his other recent struggles suggest he's not up for a high-leverage role right now.

Barrett struggled again on Thursday, as he allowed three runs (all earned) in just 0.2 innings against the Padres. He was tagged with the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett came on in the eighth with Arizona up a run and quickly recorded two outs. But he then allowed two hits and a walk to load the bases, and was yanked for Enrique Burgos, who proceeded to give up a three-run double. Barrett has allowed nine earned runs in his last six innings and his ERA is up to 4.23. Given Barret's eighth inning usage (and his recent struggles), it appears Arizona's closer situation is very fluid at the moment.
