Barrett was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett appeared in 28 big-league games for Arizona last season, posting a 5.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with a 26:15 K:BB in 27 innings of relief. He will be utilized as organizational depth in a similar capacity for the club during this upcoming campaign.

Barrett retired all three batters he faced in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
After T.J. McFarland loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh inning and the Giants leading 5-2, Barrett was called upon in relief. Though he allowed two of three runners he inherited to score on a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice, Barrett escaped any damage to his own ledger, lowering his season ERA to 4.91 along the way. Barrett will likely see usage in middle relief for the remainder of the campaign, but probably won't be in the mix for holds very often.

Barrett was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett will take the place of Jimmie Sherfy as the Diamondbacks look to keep their bullpen stocked with fresh arms. Barrett will offer some right-handed depth out of Arizona's bullpen, and he could see some higher-leverage innings as he proved to be a reliable bullpen option earlier in the season.

Barrett was optioned to Triple-A Reno following Sunday's loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett was lit up for a second straight appearance Sunday, so he'll head back to the minors for some more seasoning. The 26-year-old saw his ERA jump from 0.69 to 4.02 after serving up four homers and allowing seven runs (six earned) in his most recent pair of outings. Barrett has shown he can be a reliable bullpen option, so he should be back with the big club once he finds his footing in the minors.

Barrett was tagged for four runs on four hits and a walk over 1.2 innings in Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Cubs. He struck out two batters during the appearance.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett sported a sterling 0.69 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over his first 14 appearances of the season, but any progress he'd made in working his way up the bullpen pecking order was stymied by his performance in his last two outings. The right-hander has been charged with seven runs (six earned) over his last 2.2 innings, with four of the seven hits he's allowed during that span leaving the yard. If Barrett is unable to rein in the long balls in his subsequent appearances, he could be headed back to Triple-A Reno in short order.

Barrett retired two of the three batters he faced in seventh inning and conceded a walk en route to collecting his first hold of the season in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Giants in 10 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett was able to protect a 4-3 lead upon entering the game for starter Taijuan Walker, with Andrew Chafin retiring the final batter of the inning to spare Barrett any damage to his ERA. The 26-year-old had been a primary setup option for the Diamondbacks a season ago, but a shoulder injury suffered in spring training delayed his start to the current campaign and has relegated him to working in the middle innings or mopping up since he rejoined the big club in early July. Barrett has at least performed well in that capacity, giving up just one run over his 12 appearances while posting a 14:4 K:BB.

Barrett tossed a scoreless seventh inning in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Braves, notching one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
A key setup man for the Diamondbacks in 2016, Barrett will have to work his way back up the bullpen ranks after a shoulder injury suffered in spring training sidelined him until early May. Once he was deemed healthy, Barrett ended up spending nearly two months with Triple-A Reno before he received the call back to the big leagues in early July. He's looked solid during his three appearances to date, but still looks to be ticketed for middle-relief work for the foreseeable future.

Barrett was recalled by the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
With Rubby De La Rosa hitting the disabled list with shoulder inflammation, Barrett will come back up to the big league club for the first time this season. Barrett posted middling numbers in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League prior to his call-up, notching a 5.68 ERA with a 1.37 WHIP across 19.0 innings. He'll provide some right-handed depth to the Arizona bullpen, but is unlikely to see much work in high-leverage situations.

Barrett (shoulder) was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Jack Magruder of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's rehab assignment concluded Thursday, but the Diamondbacks did not have room on the 25-man roster to add him to the big league club. He figures to slot into the bullpen at Triple-A, but he could be one of the first relievers called up should one of the Diamondbacks' right-handed relievers begin to falter.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo indicated that Barrett (shoulder) wouldn't be assured a spot on the 25-man roster once he's activated from the 10-day disabled list, Nick Piecoro and Sarah McLellan of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barrett has been out since spring training while tending to shoulder problems, but it looks as though he's nearly back to full strength after making his first minor-league rehab appearance with High-A Visalia on Saturday. The right-hander surrendered one hit during his lone inning, but recorded all three of his outs via strikeout during the appearance. The Diamondbacks will likely want to see how Barrett looks over a few additional appearances before activating him, but it's unclear if there will be room for him in the bullpen. At the very least, it seems the 25-year-old, who was arguably the team's top reliever a season ago with a 3.49 ERA over 68 appearances, will find himself lower in the pecking order in what's been an improved bullpen thus far in 2017.
