Arrieta was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain Tuesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta underwent an MRI on Tuesday which ultimately revealed the Grade 1 strain. Initial reports suggest that he'll be out 7-to-10 days and will miss one or two starts. Arrieta will certainly be out for this weekend's series against the Brewers and his subsequent start is still very much in the air. Mike Montgomery will remain in the rotation in the meantime.

Arrieta's next start will be pushed back even if the results of the MRI on his injured hamstring are promising, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It doesn't sound like he'll pitch in this weekend's series against the Brewers, even though it's possible he is not dealing with a major hamstring injury. Mike Montgomery will likely start Saturday with Kyle Hendricks starting Sunday on normal rest. Arrieta could conceivably return to the rotation next week against the Mets.

Arrieta (hamstring) will get an MRI Tuesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
He exited Monday's start with hamstring tightness, and after waiting to see if any swelling subsided, the Cubs opted to get an MRI on the injury. Gonzales says Arrieta feels well, but the fact that he is going for tests suggests his next start is in jeopardy.

Arrieta says he felt tightness in his right hamstring when he was forced to exit Monday's game against Pittsburgh, but he doesn't think the injury is serious, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta suggested an MRI was possible, but may not wind up being necessary. The Cubs own just a 3.5 game lead in the National League Central, so the prospect of losing Arrieta for any amount of time is scary. Expect the Cubs to perform further examinations Tuesday, and consider him day-to-day for now.

Arrieta was removed from Monday's game against the Pirates with an apparent right leg injury, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta had allowed three runs on a pair of homers through 2.1 innings before apparently injuring his leg. He attempted to throw a warmup pitch and stay in the game, but he was unable to get through his motion and subsequently limped off the field with a trainer. The severity of the injury isn't clear at this point, but more should be known once he is further evaluated following Monday's game. This could be a tough break for Arrieta, as the 31-year-old is coming off a stellar August that saw him post a 1.21 ERA and 37:12 K:B in 37.1 innings (six starts).

Arrieta (14-8) beat the Pirates in dominant fashion Tuesday, allowing just two hits with two walks and four strikeouts over six scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta came in with a 1.85 ERA and 0.98 WHIP in 10 starts since the beginning of July and stayed true to form with another excellent effort. Chicago's offense came alive just in time to earn him win No. 14, plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a scoreless tie. Arrieta will have a great chance to stay hot in his next start Sunday against the Braves.

Arrieta allowed just one unearned run on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings, but didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta was sharp from the start, striking out the first four batters he faced. His only blemish came on a Joey Votto RBI single after a Kris Bryant error turned what should have been a routine out into a runner on second base. The 2015 NL Cy Young Award winner has turned it on over his past eight starts, holding each of his opponents in that span to two or fewer runs en route to a 5-1 record. He was on pace for his 14th win until the bullpen blew a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning. Expect Arrieta to stay hot Tuesday against the Pirates.

Arrieta (13-8) earned the win over the Blue Jays on Friday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing a run in the first, Arrieta settled in and faced just three over the minimum over his next five frames. He ran back into a bit of trouble in the seventh before being pulled, but the bullpen kept the inherited runners from scoring, and Arrieta has now allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven consecutive starts to begin the second half. The right-hander may not be all the way back to his Cy Young form, but he's closer to it than he was over the first three months.

Arrieta (12-8) allowed one earned run on three hits across six innings in Sunday's 7-2 road win over the Diamondbacks. He walked three and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta has now gone 4-1 over his last six starts, improving his ERA to 3.73 during that span. His 135 strikeouts are second on the Cubs behind Jon Lester, while his 12 wins lead the team. Arrieta is in line to toe the rubber again Friday, this time at home in an interleague matchup with the Blue Jays.

Arrieta (11-8) allowed three runs -- two earned -- on nine hits while striking out five batters through 6.1 innings during Monday's win over San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
The numbers aren't nearly as flashy, but Arrieta hasn't allowed more than four earned runs in any of his past 16 starts and now sports a 3.83 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 for the campaign. He's a strong two-month stretch away from posting another high-end fantasy season, and the righty has plenty of motivation with free agency ahead this offseason. Arrieta projects to make his next start against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
