Arrieta came away with a no-decision in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Mets, allowing five hits and two walks over 7.1 scoreless innings while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander left the game with a 1-0 lead and seemingly headed for his fourth win of the season, but Hector Neris couldn't hold the lead in the ninth inning. Arrieta has curiously walked exactly two batters in all seven of his starts so far, but his 2.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 0.4 HR/9 are all reminiscent of his heyday with the Cubs. He'll look to keep things rolling Thursday on the road against the Cardinals.

Arrieta allowed one earned run on two hits while walking two and striking out two across six innings Sunday against the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The only run against Arrieta came on a solo home run by Matt Adams in the second inning. The Nationals could only muster one other hit against him, a single that came later in the inning. However, this start cannot be viewed entirely as a positive because Arrieta only managed to strike out two batters, continuing a concerning season long trend of a lack of strikeouts. Instead, he has relied heavily on inducing groundballs -- he has a 60.4 percent groundball rate -- to effectively limit home runs and extra-base hits. This development will limit his value, but he has been able to maintain strong ratios through six starts this season.

Arrieta (3-1) allowed six runs on eight hits and two walks across 3.2 innings while taking the loss Monday against the Marlins. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta endured a nightmare third inning which saw the home team score four runs as the first four men reached base. He was able to battle through and pitched into the fourth before his removal after a two-out, RBI double from Starlin Castro. This poor outing comes somewhat out of nowhere for Arrieta, who'd allowed just three earned runs over 20.2 total innings over his last three starts. He still has a respectable 3.49 ERA for the season, but he's now struck out two or fewer batters in three of five starts. The veteran will look to bounce back Sunday against the Nationals.

Arrieta (3-0) allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out two over seven innings Wednesday to earn the win against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta looked locked in Wednesday, as he didn't allow an extra-base hit and made it through seven innings for the second straight start. The lack of strikeouts aren't ideal -- he had just one over 6.2 innings in his second start -- but that's a bit easier to overlook when he's thrown three straight quality starts and picked up the win each time. After a rocky debut with the Phillies, Arrieta now sports a 1.82 ERA and will look to keep rolling in a favorable matchup when he takes on the Marlins on Monday.

Arrieta's dominant start Thursday against the Pirates can be attributed to his sinker, which had more horizontal movement than ever before, Ben Harris of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta's sinker broke 11.46 inches on average. His previous high was 9.78 inches. The pitch generated 11 whiffs, its second-most in any game of his career. The excellent sinker drove a vintage performance for Arrieta in which he struck out 10 and only allowed one hit. It was a reassuring outing coming on the heels of his previous start in which he struck out just one batter. Arrieta's noisy delivery will naturally lead to some inconsistency, but on nights like Thursday when he has both his command and his electric stuff he can put up performances that rival the best starters in the game.

Arrieta (2-0) allowed only one hit while walking two and striking out 10 across seven scoreless innings to earn the win Thursday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta posted his first dominant start as a member of the Phillies, running through the Pirates lineup without a problem. He allowed only three baserunners and didn't allow a runner into scoring position until the fifth inning. His velocity was also up across the board, averaging 93 mph with his fastball -- a mark besting any monthly average he posted last season.

Arrieta (1-0) collected his first win as a Phillie in Saturday's 9-4 victory over the Rays, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out only one.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander threw 57 of 88 pitches for strikes, but he generated only four swinging strikes and relied heavily on his defense to get results. Arrieta will take a 3.38 ERA into his next start Thursday at home against the Pirates.

Arrieta allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits while walking two and striking out five in his season debut Sunday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Arrieta allowed all of his earned runs in his first inning of work but allowed only two baserunners after. His velocity essentially matched his averages from last season, a good sign for his first start of the season after signing late into the winter. It remains to be seen how he'll fare against tougher lineups, but his outing today has to be considered encouraging.

Arrieta was recalled from High-A Clearwater and will take the mound for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After signing with the Phillies late into spring camp, Arrieta was assigned to High-A Clearwater prior to Opening Day in order to get in some work prior to his first start of the 2018 campaign. Now back in the majors, he'll look to help complete the sweep of the Marlins in his anticipated team debut.

Arrieta threw a 66-pitch simulated game Tuesday, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Because of Arrieta's late signing, the Phillies wanted their new ace to receive additional reps at High-A Clearwater prior to making his season debut. Arrieta's workout went well, putting him on track to start Sunday's game against the Marlins as planned.
