Nova (10-7) allowed seven runs on nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts over five-plus innings in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Nova adjusted poorly to pitching in the league's most hitter-friendly venue, allowing home runs to Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story while failing to last at least six innings for just the second time in 20 starts. The veteran righty has consistently worked deep into games thanks to a terrific 78:17 K:BB, but his effectiveness has been limited over the past two starts due to 19 hits allowed. He'll have a great opportunity to get back on track on the road Saturday against a Padres offense that has scored the fewest runs in the league.

Nova (10-6) allowed three runs on 10 hits and one walk across six innings in Tuesday's win over the Brewers. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Nova, who consistently put men on base throughout the evening, was able to escape several jams but was breached by a three-run home run from Travis Shaw in the third inning. Luckily his offense came to his aid in the sixth inning, plating four runs to put him on the hook for the win. Nova's 1.13 WHIP on the season indicates that he should cut down on the baserunners moving forward, while his strong 73:16 K:BB ratio shows that maintaining his tidy 3.27 ERA is feasible. He has now gone at least six innings in nine of his last 10 starts and will look to continue his steady season Sunday against the Rockies.

Nova (9-6) allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings in a win over the Cubs on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander did serve up a pair of homers -- he's now allowed multiple home runs in four of his last seven starts. That's a somewhat disturbing trend, but Nova has been mostly effective regardless. He's tied for fourth in the National League with 13 quality starts and is top-10 among qualified starters in the league in wins, ERA and WHIP, even as his K/9 hovers right around 5.0.

Nova (8-6) allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out one batter through six innings during Monday's loss to Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
Nova hasn't been as sharp of late and had allowed three runs or more in seven of his past nine games for a 3.77 ERA. His 4.03 FIP suggests his recent run is more in line with his talent than the 2.23 ERA he posted through his first seven starts of the season, too. Additionally, with a 4.8 K/9 for the season, Nova's fantasy ceiling is capped. He's a serviceable contributor, but he's hardly a go-to asset. Nova projects to make his next start against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Nova (8-5) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Rays. He struck out only one.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't his sharpest outing of the season, but the Pittsburgh offense backed Nova with a four-run outburst in the bottom of the first inning and he coasted from there. The right-hander will take a 3.08 ERA into his next start Monday on the road against the Phillies.

Nova (7-5) allowed four runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out five batters during Thursday's loss to Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Nova has been a serviceable fantasy asset and a reliable starter for the Pirates. His 3.06 ERA and 1.08 WHIP are sterling marks, but his 5.2 K/9 limits his upside in virtual settings. Still, there is a lot to be said for his game-to-game consistency. Nova projects to make his next start at PNC Park against Tampa Bay.

Nova gave up three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six in seven innings Saturday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
He has logged quality starts in seven of his last eight starts and sports fantastic ratios (2.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) that help make up for the fact that his 13.7 percent strikeout rate ranks 79th out of 84 qualified big-league starters. Nova will face another significant challenge in his next start Thursday in Milwaukee.

Nova (6-4) pitched six scoreless innings with a single hit allowed and four strikeouts during Sunday's win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Nova threw just 77 pitches (50 for strikes) through the six-inning outing and silenced any concerns about the knee inflammation that he battled during his previous start. The righty boasts high-end ratios (2.83 ERA and 1.01 WHIP), but his 4.9 K/9 caps his fantasy upside. He lines up to face the Cubs at PNC Park in his next start.

Nova (knee) will make his scheduled start Sunday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Nova battled left knee inflammation during his previous start Tuesday against the Orioles, but it wasn't anything that treatment from team trainers and a few days off couldn't remedy. The right-hander has been remarkably consistent in his first full season with the Pirates, covering six innings in each of his 12 starts and delivering a 3.04 ERA and 1.07 WHIP, though his strikeout rate has collapsed to a feeble 4.8 K/9.

Nova exited Tuesday's game against the Orioles with left knee inflammation, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nova had dealt with some knee pain in late May, so this injury diagnosis has a bit of history. It's certainly possible that his knee ailment will earn Nova a trip to the disabled list, though we'll have to wait for further details in the coming days. He'll be listed as day-to-day for now.
