Nova surrendered eight runs (five earned) in 4.2 innings Wednesday in Washington. He allowed 11 hits and two walks while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
He didn't get much support from his defense and struggled with his two-seam fastball. Nova entered Wednesday with a 2.28 ERA his last 27.2 innings but saw his season earned-run average jump to 4.01. He'll face the White Sox on Tuesday.

Nova allowed six hits while striking out five batters across eight scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Nova was sharp throughout Thursday's outing, needing just 93 pitches -- 63 of which were strikes -- to complete eight shutout frames in what was easily his best outing of the season. Unfortunately, the 31-year-old was unable to pick up the win despite his impressive performance, as the only run of the game came off a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. Nova has now notched four straight quality starts, and he owns a remarkable 23:0 K:BB across 27.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look to keep things rolling as he carries a 3.32 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into his next start, which is set for Tuesday against the Nationals.

Nova (2-1) didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Phillies, allowing one run on five hits over six innings while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
It's his third straight quality start, and Nova has an eye-popping 18:0 K:BB over 19.2 innings during that stretch. The right-hander will look to continue his run of success in Thursday's home start against the Tigers.

Nova (1-2) gave up three runs on six hits over 6.2 innings in Sunday's winning effort against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Nova demonstrated terrific control again Sunday, as he didn't surrender a walk for the second consecutive game. He leveraged his solid pitch location (71 of his 106 pitches were strikes) into nine strikeouts, his most of the season. His one major mistake came in the seventh inning when Justin Bour got ahold of a curveball and slugged a two-run home run. Nova projects to next pitch Friday against the Phillies, so his next matchup figures to be a bit more challenging.

Nova (1-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out six batters in Tuesday's 8-5 victory over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Two of the runs that Nova surrendered came via home runs, both of which were hit by Javier Baez. Despite allowing a pair of homers, Nova showed solid control and didn't issue any walks while tossing 66 of his 102 pitches for strikes. Although his ERA sits at a lofty mark of 5.19 for the year, Nova will have the chance to continue improving, as his next start projects to be a favorable matchup against the Marlins on Sunday.

Nova will start Tuesday against the Cubs, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nova was originally slated to start Monday, but the game was postponed one day due to snow. As expected, Nova will remain the starter. He'll be able to pitch again Sunday against the Marlins, preserving his two-start week. The veteran has gotten off to a rough start this year, posting a 6.10 ERA through his first two starts, and the Cubs are unlikely to provide an easy lineup for him to get back on track against.

Nova will not make his scheduled start Monday against the Cubs as the game has been postponed, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
The makeup date for the game has yet to be announced, but the teams have an off day Tuesday which appears to be the most obvious choice. If the game is indeed rescheduled for Tuesday, Nova would likely still be the starter. If that's the case, he'll keep his two-start week, as he'd be able to pitch against the Marlins on Sunday on four days' rest.

Nova (0-1) allowed five runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings in a loss Wednesday to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Of the five hits Nova allowed, four went for extra-bases, including a home run by Brian Dozier. Nova hasn't been able to put it together yet this season, as he has failed to post a quality start in either of his two outings thus far. He was only able to draw five swinging strikes in 81 pitches Wednesday night, and he'll need to miss more bats to last deeper into ballgames.

Nova allowed two runs on six hits and three walks in five innings Friday. He struck out four en route to a no-decision against Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
Nova issued more than three free passes only one time in 31 starts last season. It's possible that he struggled gripping the ball in the 37-degree weather conditions, leading to the uncharacteristic control problems. He did wiggle himself out of a pair of bases-loaded, no-out situations Friday, however. The righty is a better streaming option at PNC Park, where he'll make his next start. The 31-year-old went 8-2 with a 2.80 ERA at home in 2017.

Thursday's game was rained out, so Nova will take the mound Friday afternoon against the Tigers, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was an easy game to make up, as both teams had an off day Friday, so Nova simply gets pushed back a day while the rest of the rotation stays on schedule.
