Kennedy (1-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks over five innings while striking out six against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy turned in three brilliant performances to open up the season, but Wednesday's outing was a sharp regression back to the mean. There weren't many positives in Kennedy's day, as he labored just to get through the five innings -- needing 106 pitches -- and was done in by a pair of home runs. Coming off a season in which he posted a 5.38 ERA over 30 starts, it was always going to be unsustainable for the 33-year-old to stay anywhere near the 1.00 ERA he worked to prior to Wednesday, but he'll look to get back on track in his next start Tuesday against the Brewers.

Kennedy (1-1) got the loss against the Angels on Thursday, giving up one run on seven hits, striking out three and walking two in what turned into a 7-1 Kansas City defeat.
EDGE Analysis
It was another strong start despite the defeat for Kennedy, who has now gone six innings in all three of his starts this season, giving up just two earned runs, striking out 16 batters and posting a 1.00 ERA over 18 innings in that timeframe. He's coming off a season where he had a 5.38 ERA in 154 innings so it's hard know exactly what to make of this hot start until he gets more innings under his belt. That said, if you've been benefitting from his sharp outings so far, feel free to keeping riding the wave in the hopes that he can keep this up.

Kennedy allowed four hits while walking none and striking out eight across six scoreless innings to earn the win Saturday against the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy has pitched 12 innings this season and allowed only one run, making him one of the more surprising starting pitchers in the early going. He's generated a surprising number of strikeouts and his eight in today's start were backed up by 12 swinging strikes. These types of performances aren't likely to continue throughout the entire season, but for now Kennedy enters the discussion as a viable streaming option.

Kennedy gave up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five in six innings Saturday, but he didn't factor into the decision as the Royals lost 4-3 to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals' bullpen betrayed Kennedy as Brandon Maurer allowed three runs, including a Yoan Moncada solo home run, in the eighth inning to blow a lead and Kennedy's chance at a win. The right-hander pounded the zone for 73 strikes in 105 tosses, working effectively with backstop Drew Butera. Though this outing may encourage some mixed-league fantasy players to consider adding him, it'll take more evidence for Kennedy to earn consistent trust for future outings. His scheduled follow-up Friday against the capable, if not daunting, Indians lineup presents a difficult task.

Kennedy has allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings (two starts) so far in spring training.
EDGE Analysis
He rebounded nicely from his first spring start where he gave up two runs in two innings by blanking the Diamondbacks over three frames his last time out. His control has been solid, with 34 of his 42 pitches going for strikes thus far. He projects to slot in as the Royals' No. 2 starter this season.

Kennedy moved to 5-13 for the season after tossing five innings of one-run ball in the Royals' 2-1 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday. Kennedy conceded four hits and one walk and struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy was cruising along nicely through five frames, but due to the team's expanded bullpen in September, manager Ned Yost elected to pull the starter with his pitch count at 86 for the evening. It's nonetheless a strong end to what's been a troubling season for Kennedy, whose 5.38 ERA is his worst mark in any campaign in which he's tossed at least 40 innings. A 5.65 FIP suggests that Kennedy's poor ERA wasn't merely a case of bad luck, as he also saw his strikeout rate dip below 8.0 K/9 for the first time since 2010. It looks quite possible that Kennedy could be settling into the decline phase of his career, a troubling development for the Royals with the 32-year-old right-hander still under contract for three more seasons.

Kennedy (4-13) took the loss Sunday against the White Sox after allowing five runs on seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
After producing a strong outing on extended rest last time out, Kennedy returned to subpar form in this one. He surrendered long balls to Avisail Garcia and Kevan Smith while seeing his ERA balloon to 5.50. That mark is unlikely to come down in Kennedy's final start Saturday against Arizona.

Kennedy will arrive in Chicago on Saturday and is expected to start Sunday against the White Sox, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy was away from the Royals to attend the birth of his son, but he's expected to rejoin the team in time to make his next start a day ahead of schedule. With Kennedy's start moving up a day, Jake Junis will now start Monday's makeup game against the Yankees. The 32-year-old owns an unremarkable 5.29 ERA and 117:58 K:BB through 143.2 innings this season.

Kennedy is with his family following the birth of his son, but could pitch Sunday if he rejoins the team in time, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
At this point in time, Sam Gaviglio is scheduled to take the mound Sunday, while Kennedy is expected to pitch Monday. Regardless of whether or not Kennedy rejoins the team early enough to move his start to Sunday, he's fully expected to be ready to go by Monday. If Kennedy does end up pitching Sunday, the Royals would send Jake Junis to the hill Monday. More news regarding the situation should be available Saturday.

Kennedy (4-12) took the loss Tuesday in Toronto despite allowing only two runs on three hits while striking out two without a walk over five-plus innings.
EDGE Analysis
Kennedy cruised through five innings, but was pulled without getting an out in the sixth after allowing Darwin Barney to break a scoreless tie with a two-run homer. He was skipped over last time through the rotation due to shoulder fatigue, and that extra rest definitely helped the veteran righty's control as he didn't issue a free pass for the first time in 28 starts this season. Assuming Kennedy makes his next scheduled start Monday, he'll have a tough time repeating this effort at Yankee Stadium.
