Anderson is close to an agreement with the Braves on a contract, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson, the third overall pick in the June 9 first-year player draft, won't officially sign with the Braves until after graduating high school. The right-hander's deal is expected to pay out around $4 million, an amount about $2.5 million lower than the recommended slot value. By nabbing Anderson at a discount, the Braves should have a better chance of signing some of their other early-round picks that may require larger bonuses to turn pro. The 18-year-old Anderson is a long ways off from reaching the big leagues, but his big frame and mid-90s fastball suggests that plenty of upside exists here.
