According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, Hyun-Jin Ryu reported to Dodgers camp weighing 255 pounds. That's 40 pounds more than the 215 that Ryu was originally listed at. He has already struggled to make it through conditioning workouts early this spring, though the young lefty seems unfazed. He fully believes the only thing that matters is how he pitches, and is ready to demonstrate that to the Dodgers.

Hyun-Jin Ryu struggled to make it through a conditioning workout Thursday in Dodgers camp, according to beat writer Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times. Hernandez writes that Ryu "appeared completely unshaken" by how poorly he did and told reporters that workouts for baseball players are very different in his native Korea. "I'm still really healthy and all that matters is how I pitch," the left-hander said through his interpreter. The Dodgers paid a total of $61.7 million for Ryu this offseason between the posting fee and MLB contract.

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Tuesday that using Hyun-Jin Ryu as a reliever is unlikely. "I wouldn't say that's what we're looking at right now," Colletti said. The Dodgers have eight starters for five rotation spots, but Ryu's spot was essentially guaranteed after they forked over $61.7 million for him this winter. Chad Billingsley, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang and Ted Lilly will battle for the final spot in the rotation.
