EDGE Analysis
The promotion was well deserved for Ramos, who turns 20 in September. He was the third-youngest and third-best hitter in the California League. Richmond is an extremely pitcher-friendly ballpark, so it will be very challenging for Ramos to carry over his success from the Cal League, without even considering he will be one of two 19-year-old hitters in the Eastern League. He will get his feet wet against Double-A pitching before likely returning to Richmond for the start of the 2020 season.

EDGE Analysis
Ramos missed a day with a bruised hand. He is now hitting .306/.385/.500 with 13 home runs and six steals (on 13 attempts) in 77 games. Ramos has gotten a bit thicker since he was drafted in 2017, so the dream of him being a major asset in the stolen-base department is probably a thing of the past, but he still has significant upside at the plate. He is the third-youngest qualified hitter in the California League and has been the third-best hitter (145 wRC+) on the circuit.

He was struck in the left hand by a pitch in Monday's game, but fortunately it seems like he escaped with just a bruise. Ramos is the third-youngest qualified hitter in the California League, and he is the youngest non-Padres hitter in the league. Despite his youth, he has been the second-best hitter (147 wRC+) on the circuit and has upped his walk rate (6.5 BB% to 9.6 BB%) while also getting to more of his plus raw power (.151 ISO to .197 ISO) compared to what he did last year at Low-A.

Since returning from a left knee injury May 27, Ramos has gone 12-for-26 (.462 average) with four extra-base knocks. The toolsy 19-year-old is one of the youngest players in the California League, but he hasn't been fazed by the jump in competition thus far.

Ramos had been held out since April 24 due to a left knee sprain, but he's finally been cleared to return to game action with High-A San Jose. He slashed .270/.422/.587 with five homers and 11 RBI through his first 19 games of the 2019 campaign prior to suffering the injury.
