Bird is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Bird will take a seat with lefty Chris Sale on the mound for Boston, and he'll likely find himself out of the starting nine more often than not in September when the Yankees face southpaws. Chase Headley will man first base in Bird's stead and bat second.

Bird went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI during Thursday's win over Boston.
EDGE Analysis
Bird also went deep in the night game of New York's doubleheader Wednesday, and he could prove to be a solid fantasy asset in the majority of settings down the stretch. While he's been limited to just 138 plate appearances in the majors over the past three years, Bird has flashed tremendous upside when healthy during his professional career.

Bird went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees dropped both games, but after an 0-for-4 performance in the opener Bird redeemed himself in the nightcap. It's just his second homer of the year and first since April 26 due to his lengthy injury layoff, but with the Yanks seemingly committed to giving him consistent at-bats down the stretch, Bird could surprise and put together a big September.

Bird is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
After missing nearly four months with an ankle injury, Bird was activated from the 60-day disabled list and immediately inserted into the starting lineup Saturday. He went 1-for-2 with two walks in his return to the majors, but he will give way to Chase Headley at first base Sunday. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Yankees ease Bird back into action with the occasional day off following his return from the DL.

Bird (ankle) is in the lineup against the Mariners on Saturday following his reinstatement from the 60-day DL.
EDGE Analysis
Bird will make his return to the big-league following nearly four months on the disabled list while dealing with an ankle injury. He was able to make nine starts at the Triple-A level with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since Aug. 16, hitting .423/.484/.846 with three home runs and six RBI during that span. For Saturday's game, Bird will be batting sixth in the order and manning first base. Moving forward, the 24-year-old figures to see a majority of the starts at first base.

Bird (ankle) will not return for Friday's game against the Mariners, Sweeny Murti of Sports Radio 66 WFAN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees will keep Bird down at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for at least one more day with lefty Ariel Miranda due up for Seattle in the series opener. Bird hit just .100/.250/.200 with one home run over the first month of the season, but he was playing through a bone bruise in his ankle. It will be interesting to see what he can do now that he's finally back near full strength.

Bird (ankle) is doubtful to rejoin the Yankees by Sunday and he may not return until after their upcoming series against the Tigers, Brendan Kuty of NJ Advance Media reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Bird is closing in on his much-anticipated return to the Yankees after a lengthy rehab from an ankle injury, the club won't rush him back until he's fully ready. With that, Bird might not be back with the Yankees until next weekend's series against the Mariners. The Yankees figure to continue platooning Chase Headley, Todd Frazier, and Tyler Austin at first base until Bird's ready to return.

Bird (ankle) said he hopes to be back with the Yankees sometime next week, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bird will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, and he is scheduled to play five innings at first base in his first appearance. The 24-year-old has been sidelined since May, so although he's optimistic he can return next week, it's possible he'll need a little more time to get back up to speed before rejoining the Yankees. Either way, it appears the big first baseman is finally nearing a return.

Bird (ankle) will embark on a rehab assignment Wednesday, Sweeny Murti of Sports Radio 66 WFAN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bird has been out since May and underwent surgery for the ankle injury that he tried to play through. Teammate Starlin Castro (hamstring) will also begin a rehab assignment starting Friday, so the pair could be back up with the big club in time to help secure a playoff spot for the Yankees.
