Manager Aaron Boone reported Sunday that Bird (ankle) could be activated from the disabled list "sometime within the next week," Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bird has not appeared in a game this season after being forced to undergo ankle surgery in March. He's played in eight minor-league rehab games thus far and could make his way back to the majors in the coming days. The Yankees open a three game series against the Rangers on Monday and then are off Thursday before returning home Friday to take on the Angels.

Bird (ankle) had his minor-league rehab assignment transferred from High-A Tampa to Double-A Trenton on Monday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bird played in three games setback-free with the Tarpons, going 2-for-8 with a trio of walks, clearing the way for him to shift his rehab to Double-A. It's unclear how many additional rehab games Bird will need to appear in before being activating, but barring any setbacks, he's hoping to rejoin the Yankees by the end of the month.

Bird (ankle) is set to embark on a rehab assignment with High-A Tampa on Thursday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Aaron Boone stated that Bird will likely need anywhere between 10-to-20 days before returning to the majors. The first baseman recently appeared in an extended spring training contest Monday, going 1-for-3 with two walks during his first game back in action since undergoing ankle surgery in late March. Expect another update on Bird's status in the near future.

Bird served as the designated hitter Monday in an extended spring training game, going 1-for-3 with two walks, Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It marked Bird's first game action of any kind since undergoing surgery to repair his right ankle March 27. Yankees skipper Aaron Boone previously suggested that Bird would require around 10-to-14 days of minor-league rehab games before returning from the 10-day disabled list, so expect the 25-year-old to suit up for another extended spring game or two before beginning a minor-league rehab assignment. If Bird's ankle doesn't prove to be a concern defensively at first base and he picks up the requisite at-bats to regain his timing at the plate, he should be activated before the end of May. Tyler Austin's playing time would likely be threatened most once Bird is back in the fold for the Yankees.

Bird (ankle) will receive at-bats during an extended spring training game Monday, Erik Boland of Newsday Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Bird is right on track for the 6-to-8 week timetable that was initially mapped out for the first baseman after he went down with this ankle injury in late March. It's expected that Bird will progress to a rehab assignment after a few appearances in extended spring training so a return to the Bronx doesn't seem to be too far off, though Boone has yet to provide any sort of target date at this time.

Manager Aaron Boone said Bird (ankle) could begin playing rehab games within the week, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bird has been sidelined all season after undergoing ankle surgery at the end of March. His ankle has apparently been responding well to increased activity -- he recently participated in hitting drills on the field for the first time since surgery -- and he could be cleared to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment in the near future if he continues to progress without any setbacks.

Bird (ankle) participated in hitting drills Saturday, Marc Carig of The Athletic New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marked the first time that Bird has hit on the field since undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur from his ankle. Although bird is on track to come off the DL during his original 6-8 week timeframe, a more definitive date should come into focus as his level of activity increases.

Manager Aaron Boone said Bird (ankle) is doing well in his rehab, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bird is reportedly making solid progress as he works his way back from surgery he underwent prior to the season to remove a small broken spur on the outside of his right ankle. While the Yankees still don't have a concrete return date set for the first baseman, the team is confident he'll be back on the shorter side of his initial 6-8 week timetable.

Bird (ankle) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This was a forgone conclusion. He underwent successful surgery to remove a small broken spur on the outside of his right ankle earlier this week and is expected to miss up to eight weeks recovering. Neil Walker should start at first base against righties while Tyler Austin gets the nod against southpaws while Bird is out.

Bird underwent successful surgery to remove a small broken spur on the outside of his right ankle Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Buster Olney of ESPN reports that Bird had "a coin-sized calcium deposit" taken out of his ankle. The 25-year-old is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks while recovering from the surgery, which puts his estimated return date sometime near the end of May or beginning of June. In the meantime, the Yankees are expected to use a combination of Neil Walker and Tyler Austin at first base until Bird is healthy.
