Gavin Floyd (elbow) said he "felt pretty good" during a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday.
The righty did admit that he still felt "a little achy" but thinks the session was "a step in the right direction." Floyd will be tested more in his next session, as he'll throw more pitches and will mix in breaking balls. He's hopeful of returning in mid-September when first eligible.

Gavin Floyd (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Monday for the first time since being placed on the disabled list.
Floyd is moving in the right direction, but there's no timetable for his return, and he isn't a lock to make it back this season. "First he has to throw out there without pain," manager Robin Ventura said. "Then you go from there. He still has a little bit of pain (in his elbow). I wouldn't be comfortable even setting a time for him to pitch right now."

Gavin Floyd (elbow) will undergo an MRI on Monday.
Floyd was removed from Sunday's game in the second inning, and will miss his next scheduled start. The White Sox will make a decision on whether to place him on the disabled list when the results of the MRI are known. Initial reports are that Floyd is dealing with the same injury (tendinitis) that forced him to the DL last month.

Gavin Floyd escaped with a quality start in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Blue Jays, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits in six innings of work.
Floyd struck out eight and walked none. His biggest mistake of the night came in the sixth, where he served up a three-run bomb to Kelly Johnson. Now 9-9, the quality outing was his fifth in six starts. He'll bring a 4.43 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 112/48 K/BB ratio into his Monday start against the Yankees at home.

Gavin Floyd was hit hard in Saturday's no-decision against the Angels, allowing five runs in 6 1/3 innings.
The Angels started off with a bang, putting up three runs in the first inning -- one via a bases-loaded walk. Floyd continued to exhibit poor control in the second inning, allowing Mike Trout to score on a wild pitch. The right-hander will attempt to get back on track when he takes on the Athletics at home on Friday.

Gavin Floyd yielded two runs -- one earned -- in 6 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Rangers.
Floyd did his job, though it wasn't easy; he allowed seven hits, walked five and hit a batter. Unfortunately, all of that work went for naught, as the White Sox were shut out by Scott Feldman and Joe Nathan. Floyd is 8-9 with a 4.28 ERA.

White Sox placed RHP Gavin Floyd on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 8, with right elbow tendinitis.
This is the first time Floyd has been placed on the disabled list in his nine-year major league career. The timetable for his return isn't yet known, but he'll be eligible to return as soon as next week. Phil Humber was activated from the disabled list to take his place on the active roster.
