Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) worked out Friday in Arizona. Sanchez failed to begin a minor league rehab assignment this week after suffering a "minor setback" with his surgically-repaired shoulder. While it's good news that he is moving around again, the timetable for his return figures to stretch well into May.

Freddy Sanchez's (shoulder) timetable has been pushed back to early May after he had a minor setback earlier this week. As expected. He hasn't been able to completely shake the soreness in his surgically-repaired right shoulder, so he'll need at least a couple weeks of rehab games once he leaves extended spring training. Emmanuel Burriss and Ryan Theriot will continue to handle second base until Sanchez is ready.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) had a "minor setback" with his recovery, and his rehab assignment will not begin Tuesday as originally hoped. Sanchez experienced some soreness in his surgically-repaired right shoulder, so the assignment will be pushed back to at least Wednesday or Thursday. He also dealt with some soreness last month, which led to him getting a cortisone shot. Sanchez had been slated to return later this month, but we have to think that timetable might now be pushed back a bit.

Freddy Sanchez said Friday that his surgically-repaired shoulder is finally responding following rest and a cortisone shot. Sanchez recently played six innings in an intrasquad camp game, fielding one grounder in the process. He is scheduled to take infield practice Saturday and could begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno as soon as next week. However, there's no set timetable for his return.

Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno as soon as next week. Sanchez was given a cortisone shot a little over a week ago to help speed his recovery from shoulder surgery. The biggest issue has been his throwing, so he'll likely a couple weeks of rehab games to get ready. Ryan Theriot and Emmanuel Burriss will split playing time at second base for now.

Giants placed 2B Freddy Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a right shoulder injury. He's still not fully recovered from shoulder surgery and will miss at least the first couple weeks of the season. He was given a cortisone shot recently in hopes of speeding his rehab along.

Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) will begin the season on the disabled list. This doesn't come as a big surprise, as Sanchez recently received a cortisone shot in his surgically-repaired shoulder after hitting a "plateau" in his rehab. He'll likely need at least the first couple weeks of the season to get ready. The Giants have Mike Fontenot and Ryan Theriot on the roster, but Emmanuel Burriss is considered the favorite to take his place at second base.

Freddy Sanchez was given a cortisone shot in his surgically-repaired shoulder after hitting a "plateau" in his rehab. Sanchez hasn't had any problems playing catch up to 120 feet, but he's hesitant to throw across his body or with any real authority. The Giants are hopeful that the cortisone shot will allow him to make some progress, but he's a near-lock that he'll need to spend the early part of the season on the disabled list. As of now, Emmanuel Burriss is the favorite to start at second base. Mike Fontenot and Ryan Theriot are both reportedly on the trading block.

Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) will be shut down for a few days. Perhaps we're burying the lead here. As Andrew Baggerly of CSN Bay Area writes: "A bad omen: Freddy Sanchez is off for a couple days. At this point, it's not an overreaction to think shoulder is career threatening." It's pretty much a given that Sanchez will begin the season on the disabled list, but the 34-year-old second baseman may have a longer-than-expected-stay on the shelf.

Freddy Sanchez (shoulder) is expected to play second base in a minor league game this weekend. The Giants don't want Sanchez to make throws on grounders in the hole if he's not comfortable, so it's clear he's not anywhere close to playing in a Cactus League game. It's pretty much a given that he'll begin the season on the disabled list.
