Thames went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 10-2 win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
He started out the season on a tear, and it looks like he's going to finish it with one too. Thames has now homered in three straight games, giving him 31 on the year, and he's put together a .375/.464/.875 slash line through 10 games in September.

Thames went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Thames has now left the yard in consecutive games to give him 30 round trippers for the campaign. Despite his poor second half, he still sports a respectable .869 OPS with 77 runs and 58 RBI to go along with the homers. Unfortunately, his .240 batting average remains a bit of a category anchor.

Thames is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
As per usual, Thames will get the day off as the opposition sends a left-hander (Steven Brault) to the mound. Jesus Aguilar, his platoon partner, will take over at first base for the contest, batting fifth.

Thames is not in the lineup Saturday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
As usual, Thames will head to the bench with a lefty (Mike Montgomery) toeing the rubber for the opposition. The slugging first baseman has been losing out on playing time recently thanks to an unsightly .212 batting average since the All-Star break. Jesus Aguilar will draw the start at first base in his place, batting fifth.

Wed 9/6/17 9:51 AM

Thames is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
For the second straight contest, the struggling Thames will take a seat against a right-handed pitcher (Luis Castillo) in favor of Neil Walker, an indication manager Craig Counsell may no longer be viewing Thames as his preferred option at first base. Even if Thames does reenter the lineup in short order, it may be tough to justify keeping him active in most leagues at this point, considering he's batting just .211 with five home runs since the All-Star break.

Thames is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
He had already been losing playing time to Jesus Aguilar at first base, primarily against lefties, and now he sits in favor of Neil Walker, who is starting at first and hitting second against righty Robert Stephenson. Thames is hitting just .143/.222/.367 with one home run and a 37 percent strikeout rate over his last 15 games, and may continue to see his playing time trend down over the final four weeks of the season.

Thames will hit sixth in the order Sunday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Thames hasn't hit below the five-spot all season, and 89 of his starts have placed him at the No. 2 spot in the batting order. His recent struggles have forced manager Craig Counsell's hand, as Thames is slashing a miserable .181/.277/.434 since the start of August. There's always a power threat with Thames, though his 31 strikeouts in the past 24 games are making him a bit of a batting average liability for fantasy owners.

Thames is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Thames stays on the bench for the second time in as many days with Neil Walker set to man first for Friday's contest. It hasn't been pretty for Thames at the plate recently, as he's just 1-for-16 with 12 strikeouts during his last four starts.

Thu 8/31/17 5:12 PM

Thames is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Thames has been struggling at the plate recently, collecting just one hit while striking out an alarming 12 times over his last 16 at-bats, so he'll get the day off to clear his head. Jesus Aguilar is starting at first base in his stead, batting fifth.

Thames went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk and three strikeouts against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
He hadn't homered in more than two weeks since doing so in back-to-back games Aug. 11 and 12, and Thames went just 4-for-33 (.121) in that interim. After spending the season's first month and a half absolutely wrecking opposing pitching, Thames got banged up in May and lost his momentum; since then, he's basically been Chris Carter, as he owns a .202/.312/.433 line with 15 homers and just 28 RBI in his last 79 games.
