Lauer (5-6) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on 10 hits and two walks over 2.2 innings while striking out two as the Padres were downed 14-8 by the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
While he managed to keep the ball in the yard, the Rockies pummeled Lauer for four doubles among the 10 hits in a typical Coors Field slugfest. The southpaw will carry a 4.60 ERA and 59:22 K:BB through 74.1 innings into his next start Friday in Pittsburgh.

Lauer (5-5) allowed four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and three walks in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Nationals. He struck out five and took the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Lauer was unable to keep pace with Nationals star Max Scherzer on Saturday, and the Padres didn't get on the board until the ninth inning. Lauer owns a 4.14 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 57 strikeouts over 71.2 innings. He lines up for his next start versus the Rockies at Coors Field on Saturday.

Lauer (5-4) picked up the win against the Phillies on Monday, giving up two hits and one earned run over six innings, striking out three and walking three as the Padres won 8-2.
EDGE Analysis
Lauer turned in a quality start in picking up his fifth win of the season, giving up just one earned for a fourth consecutive outing following an eight-run blowup against the Rockies on May 10. He's lowered his ERA from 5.75 to 4.18 over that strong run to go along with a 52:17 K:BB over 64.2 innings. He'll look to keep it going in his next start, which is scheduled for Saturday on the road against the Nationals.

Lauer (4-4) struck out four and picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-4 victory over the Yankees, giving up one run on four hits and no walks over 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Lauer shut out the Yankees until the fourth inning, when Gary Sanchez blasted a solo homer for the Yankees' first run. The left-hander didn't allow more than one hit in an inning until the sixth, when he allowed two singles before being lifted after 83 pitches. The 23-year-old will carry a 4.45 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP and 49:14 K:BB over 58.2 innings into his next start Monday at home against the Phillies.

Lauer (3-4) picked up the win against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, giving up one earned run on four hits over seven strong innings, striking out seven and walking none in a 5-2 victory for the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander has bounced back from an eight-run blowup against the Rockies on May 10 with a pair of solid starts, as he's given up just one earned run over 12.2 innings since the meltdown in Colorado. That lowers his ERA to 4.73 and his WHIP to 1.31 to go along with a 45:14 K:BB through 53.1 innings. Lauer lines up to take the mound next on the road against the Yankees on Tuesday.

Lauer limited the Pirates to two runs (one earned) on seven hits in 5.2 innings Thursday but did not factor in the decision. He struck out three and did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
It was a nice bounce-back game for Lauer after getting shelled in Colorado in his previous start, though it bears mentioning that he was facing a Pirates club ranked 28th in the league in scoring. Still, he was pulled one out away from a quality start and gave up fewer than two earned runs for the first time since his first outing of the season. He'll face Arizona on Tuesday in his next scheduled start.

Lauer (2-4) took the loss Friday as the Padres got routed 12-2 by the Rockies, coughing up eight runs on eight hits and two walks over three-plus innings while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was keeping things together in Coors (relatively speaking) until the fourth inning, when he allowed the first six Colorado batters to reach base before getting the hook. Lauer will take a 5.75 ERA and 35:14 K:BB through 40.2 innings into his next start Thursday, at home against the Pirates.

Lauer allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He was far from dominant, inducing only five swinging strikes on 80 pitches, but this was a commendable effort against a tough lineup. Lauer's strikeout rate is up slightly but his skill set is not particularly exciting -- he's a streaming option at best in most leagues. With the Padres temporarily moving to a six-man rotation, Lauer projects to make his next start next weekend in Colorado.

Lauer is expected to make his next start Friday against the Dodgers in San Diego, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lauer was listed as the Padres' probable starter for Thursday's series finale in Atlanta, but he now projects to lead off a six-game homestand with San Diego planning to add a temporary sixth starter to the mix in Triple-A El Paso hurler Cal Quantrill, who will take the hill Wednesday. The move back a day in the pitching schedule should prove beneficial to Lauer, who owns a career 3.86 ERA at Petco Park compared to a 4.89 mark in road venues.

Lauer allowed two runs on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks across 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old nearly held the Nationals scoreless through six innings, but he allowed a game-tying homer with two outs in the fifth on the last pitch he threw. Because of that, Lauer had to settle for the no-decision. Still, it was a strong outing for Lauer, who has been searching for some consistency since throwing six shutout innings during his first outing of the year. Lauer is 2-3 with a 4.41 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 32.2 innings this season. His next outing will likely be on the road Thursday against the Braves.
