According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, Edwin Jackson is likely to sign a one-year deal. The idea being that he could hit the free agent market again next offseason as a 29-year-old. Jackson reportedly has multiple three-year offers on the table, with one of them probably coming from the Orioles, but he might prefer to join a contender or a pitch in a home ballpark with bigger dimensions. The Red Sox have also expressed interest in the free agent right-hander, and the Cardinals are said to be monitoring his market.

Edwin Jackson has ''multiple three-year offers,'' and could take a one-year deal and go back on the market next offseason, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. It's not yet clear who the offers are from, but the Orioles and Red Sox are thought to have interest. Jackson, 28, went 12-9 with a 3.79 ERA and 1.44 WHIP between the White Sox and Cardinals this past season. He is reportedly seeking an annual salary of $8-10 million.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox were "not close" to any deal with free agent right-hander Edwin Jackson as of late Thursday night. There have been reports that Jackson has an offer in hand from the Sox and that he's their preferred option to fellow free agent Roy Oswalt. The Orioles are reportedly also considering getting in on the bidding and may be willing to offer four years. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 3.79 ERA and 148/62 K/BB ratio in 199 2/3 innings last season between the White Sox and Cardinals.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Cardinals have "checked in" on Edwin Jackson. Jackson had a 3.58 ERA with St. Louis down the stretch last season and a 5.60 ERA over four starts during the club's postseason run. The Cards also remain in the mix for Roy Oswalt, but they don't have a huge sense of urgency to add either pitcher given that they already have a full rotation and top prospect Shelby Miller isn't far away from the big leagues. Heyman writes that Jackson is also talking to the Red Sox and has a multi-year offer from a third team.

According to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles would consider a four-year deal for Edwin Jackson. Connolly still considers the Orioles a long shot since the Red Sox also have interest, but we wouldn't be surprised if Jackson (and his agent Scott Boras) jumped at the security of a lucrative long-term deal. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a 3.79 ERA and 148/62 K/BB ratio in 199 2/3 innings last season between the White Sox and Cardinals.

Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM reports that the Red Sox have also made an offer to Edwin Jackson and prefer him to Roy Oswalt. Interesting. Jackson obviously doesn't have the resume of Oswalt, but he is nearly six years younger and doesn't have a nagging back condition. He has also thrown at least 199 1/3 innings in each of the past three seasons. While Jackson originally hoped to find a five-year contract valued at around $15 million per season, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reported earlier this week that it's "possible" he could accept a one-year deal.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Red Sox have checked in on free agent right-handers Edwin Jackson and Roy Oswalt. The Red Sox traded Marco Scutaro to the Rockies over the weekend, clearing his $6 million salary for 2012 along with it. They already added Cody Ross on a one-year, $3 million contract with some of the excess cash, but that doesn't preclude them from adding a pitcher like Jackson or Oswalt. Heyman hears that they are also looking at alternatives for their infield. As of now, Mike Aviles and Nick Punto project to share playing time at shortstop this season.

Sources have told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal that it's "possible" Edwin Jackson could accept a one-year deal. E-Jax opened this offseason in search of a five-year contract worth around $15 million per, but teams have balked at that asking price. Now, with spring training less than one month away, the free agent right-hander just wants to find a team. He should be able to find around $8-10 million on a one-year agreement, and can hit free agency again next winter at the age of 29.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com suggests the Indians could consider signing Edwin Jackson if they decide to void their current deal with Fausto Carmona. Heyman is speculating here and not reporting. The Indians are operating on a tight budget this offseason, but Jackson's asking price has come down significantly and he's now younger and offers a better track record than Carmona. Cleveland would also save $7 million in payroll this season if they decide to release or void Carmona's contract.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that free agent starter Edwin Jackson's asking price has "come down significantly." The 28-year-old right-hander was reportedly seeking a five-year deal worth about $15 million per season, but he was never going to get that much. The Yankees allegedly are only willing to give him a one-year contract, but Jackson should still be able to get a multi-year deal from someone. He's going to have to shoot closer to $10 million than $15 million, though.
