Edwin Jackson held the Pirates to one run over seven innings Sunday in the Cubs' 4-1 victory.
It was Jackson's longest (and best) start since joining the Cubs. He struck out eight batters and surrendered just one walk, watching his ERA plummet from 6.29 to 5.76 and his WHIP fall from 1.67 to 1.57. The right-hander has been blown up too often this season and is still too inconsistent to be trusted in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Edwin Jackson fell to 1-8 Sunday, yielding seven runs -- five earned -- on 12 hits and three walks over 5 2/3 frames against the Diamondbacks.
Jackson looked like he was finally going to put up a nice start last week before the game against the White Sox was washed away by rain. So, of course, he throws up an absolute clunker the next time out. He'll take an unsightly 6.29 ERA and 1.67 WHIP into next weekend's start against the Pirates.

Edwin Jackson has allowed less than two earned runs in a start just once this season.
And E-Jax gave up four unearned runs in that outing, April 20 against the Brewers. The 29-year-old right-hander has been a colossal free-agent disappointment thus far. He's 1-7 for the Cubs with a 6.11 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 52/22 K/BB ratio over 10 starts. Luckily, Chicago manager Dale Sveum told reporters Friday that he won't yank Jackson from the rotation. Mixed leaguers, if they haven't already, should take the opposite path. Jackson is owned in only 22.7% of ESPN.com leagues.

Edwin Jackson held the Nationals to two runs over 5 1/3 innings Saturday in the Cubs' 8-2 win.
Jackson wasn't exactly dominant against his former team, but he did enough to tally his first victory of the season. The 29-year-old right-hander is now 1-5 with a 6.02 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 42/20 K/BB ratio in 43 1/3 innings with Chicago. He will take on the Mets next.

Edwin Jackson allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings in the loss to the Padres on Tuesday.
Jackson has struggled out of the gate, and Tuesday was his latest dud. The right-hander allowed 11 hits in his 4 2/3 innings, bringing his season ERA to 6.27 through six starts. There are better options in mixed leagues at this point. His next start is Sunday against the Reds.

Edwin Jackson yielded five runs -- one earned -- in six innings Saturday as the Cubs fell to the Brewers.
Jackson made a throwing error, and Alfonso Soriano and Starlin Castro each made fielding errors. Which explains all of the unearned runs. Jackson allowed four hits and walked one. He's now 0-3 with a 4.84 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 22 1/3 innings but has a juicy matchup next week in Miami against the Marlins.

Edwin Jackson yielded five runs -- four earned -- in 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Giants.
Jackson struck out nine, but he also walked four and threw two wild pitches in another sloppy outing. On the plus side, he's fanned 20 and still hasn't given up a homer in three starts this year. However, his ERA stands at 6.06 anyway. FIP would say he's due for a correction.

Edwin Jackson gave up five runs on eight hits over six innings in Monday's loss to the Brewers.
It was a rough outing for Jackson. He worked up a high pitch count early and struggled with his command throughout the game. His six strikeouts were largely overshadowed by his five walks. Jackson will take on the Giants in his next start.

Edwin Jackson lasted only five innings against the Pirates Wednesday, but he limited them to two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out five in a loss.
E-Jax struck out the first three batters he faced during his Cubs' career, but he surrendered a couple runs in the fourth and that's all Wandy Rodriguez and the Bucs' pen needed. It's a solid debut, though he needs to be more economical, having required 92 pitches over five frames. Jackson will face the Brewers in the first of two starts next week.

Edwin Jackson was knocked around in his spring finale on Friday, surrendering five runs on five hits over four innings of work against the Astros.
Jackson did manage to rack up nine strikeouts on the evening while walking just one, so it wasn't a complete disaster. He finishes the spring with a 5.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17/6 K/BB ratio over 24 frames. While Jackson is maddeningly inconsistent at times, his potential for dominance and ability to record strikeouts, gives him value in mixed leagues. He's slated to make his Cubs debut when they take on the Marlins at Wrigley on Wednesday.
