Mets transferred RHP Dillon Gee from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move opens a spot on the 40-man roster as the Mets welcome their September call-ups. Gee had surgery in July to repair an artery in his pitching shoulder. He isn't expected to return this season, but should be 100 percent for spring training next year.

Dillon Gee (shoulder) is expected to begin a throwing program next week.
Gee was cleared to throw after going through an angiogram last Friday in St. Louis. The 26-year-old right-hander isn't expected to return this season, but he should be 100 percent by spring training next year.

Dillon Gee (shoulder) is scheduled to undergo an angiogram Friday in St. Louis.
Gee is currently working his way back from surgery on July 13 to repair an artery in his pitching shoulder. He could be cleared to begin throwing if all goes well Friday, but he's not expected to return this year.

Dillon Gee (shoulder) confirmed it's "unrealistic" to expect him to return this season.
"Probably not," Gee said. "It's still three more weeks until the six-week checkup to clear me to throw, hopefully. To come back for a game, I'd have to be ready in two to three weeks, after being out at that point it would be almost two months. I think it would be unrealistic." Gee underwent surgery on July 13 to repair an artery in his pitching shoulder that had been 96 percent blocked. He expects to be 100 percent for spring training next year.

Mets transferred RHP Dillon Gee from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move cleared a spot for left-hander Garrett Olson on the 40-man roster. Gee underwent surgery in mid-July to replace a portion of a damaged artery in his right shoulder and is unlikely to return this season.

Mets manager Terry Collins isn't optimistic that Dillon Gee (shoulder) will return this season.
"It's going to be a while before he starts throwing or doing anything,'' Collins said. "The doctors have said up to eight weeks, so you're looking at the middle of September. If we're in the hunt, and if Dillon's back and he's at 100 percent, then it's something we'll do. But if not, I'm sure we'll look toward next year." Miguel Batista is replacing Gee in the starting rotation Saturday, but Matt Harvey is being considered for a promotion for the majors, and remains a candidate as the fifth starter.

Dillon Gee (shoulder) hopes to resume throwing in six weeks.
Gee was released from the hospital Monday after undergoing surgery last Friday to replace a portion of the damaged artery in his throwing shoulder. It's unlikely he'll have enough time to return this season, but the good news is that the surgery is not expected to have an impact on his health or career moving forward.

Mets placed RHP Dillon Gee on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 8, with a blood clot in his right shoulder.
Gee had surgery on Friday to replace a portion of the damaged artery in his throwing shoulder. There is no clear timeline for his return, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him miss the remainder of the season.

The Mets have confirmed that Dillon Gee will undergo surgery Friday to replace a portion of a damaged artery in his right shoulder.
Gee had a blood clot dissolved earlier this week, but Friday's procedure will prevent of recurrence of clotting. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Robert Thompson in St. Louis. While no long-lasting ramifications are expected following the procedure, odds are he will miss the rest of the season. It's too bad, as the 26-year-old right-hander was making some nice strides this season.

Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com reports that Dillon Gee will undergo potentially season-ending surgery Friday in St. Louis to repair artery damage in his right shoulder.
Doctors were able to dissolve a blood clot in Gee's shoulder, but they determined that his artery was damaged, and the right-hander has opted to undergo surgery rather than use blood thinners. It's a shame, as Gee was pitching well this season with a 4.10 ERA and 97/29 K/BB ratio over 109 2/3 innings, but it's simply something he must do for his health. He'll be allowed to resume throwing in 6-8 weeks and could make it back in late September, but the Mets appear more focused on getting him ready for the 2013 season.
