Gregorius is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Newsday's Erik Boland reports.
While Gregorius may not be in a strict platoon, the Yankees seemingly want to limit his at-bats against left-handed pitchers, which makes perfect sense if you look at the young shortstop's track record. Stephen Drew will start Tuesday's game at shortstop, with Gregorio Petit getting the nod at second base.

Gregorius collected his first hit of the season Thursday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in the loss to the Blue Jays.
It was the club's first game against a left-handed starter, and despite some speculation during spring training that the team would employ a platoon at shortstop, Gregorius was in the lineup. Manager Joe Girardi indicated that he'd like to get Gregorio Petit in the lineup against southpaws, so Gregorius likely wit sit occasionally against lefties -- including an expected day off for the 25-year-old Friday -- but the plan for now appears to have him get the bulk of the starts, regardless of the starting pitcher.

Gregorius probably won't be in the lineup for Friday's game against Wade Miley and the Red Sox, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
Gregorius has struggled terribly against southpaws to this point in his career, and while the Yankees haven't explicitly said that he'll be part of a platoon, the young shortstop figures to get plenty of days off when the team faces left-handed pitchers. The Yankees' middle infield will likely be manned by Gregorio Petit and Stephen Drew on Friday, as Brendan Ryan (calf) and Jose Pirela (concussion) are both on the disabled list.

Gregorius reported feeling fine after getting hit in the elbow Monday and is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday, The Westchester Journal News reports.
Gregorius remained in the game afterward, so there didn't seem to be a high level of concern at the time, but manager Joe Girardi indicated it would be a situation the team will continue to monitor as swelling could still occur the day after. The team has a day off Tuesday, so even if Gregorius needed some rest he should be good to go for Wednesday's contest after the off day.

Gregorius is in the lineup for Thursday's spring game.
Gregorius was initially supposed to return to spring action Wednesday but was pushed back a day as he continued to deal with swelling in his wrist. It appears as though it's no longer an issue, so the 25-year-old should be good to go for Opening Day. The team had been exploring the possibility of Gregorius being part of a platoon at shortstop, but with Brendan Ryan likely sidelined for the foreseeable future with a calf strain, Gregorius will likely start on an everyday basis.

Gregorius (wrist) expects to be ready by Opening Day, the NY Daily News reports.
Gregorius reported that the swelling in his wrist has gone down and indicated that he could have played in Wednesday's spring game but manager Joe Girardi elected to give him an extra day off. The 25-year-old could return to Grapefruit League action as early as Thursday but even if he's not back then, it appears as though there's no real concern that he'll miss Opening Day or need to start the season on the disabled list.

Gregorius (wrist) does not have a timetable as he continues to deal with swelling, Newsday's David Lennon reports.
Gregorius was expected to take batting practice Tuesday but it's unclear if that is still the plan. While the Yankees have indicated that their starting shortstop should be ready for Opening Day, the injury is worth keeping an eye on as the season rapidly approaches. If Gregorius isn't ready, Brendan Ryan will likely get the Opening Day nod at shortstop.

Gregorius (wrist) is improving and plans to take batting practice Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Gregorius has reported that his sprained wrist already feels better than it did Saturday when he sustained the injury, and remains confident that he'll be ready by Opening Day. The original plan for the 25-year-old was to return to spring action by Wednesday, so if he can get through Tuesday's batting practice without any pain that initial timetable seems to be within reach.
