Mets manager Terry Collins believes that David Wright (back) will begin swinging a bat and hitting off a tee Wednesday. Wright was cleared to resume baseball activities after visiting a back specialist last week. The Mets are hoping he can return immediately following the All-Star break.

Mets manager Terry Collins said it's "feasible" that David Wright (back) could return on July 15 for the Mets' first game after the All-Star break. Of course, remember that GM Sandy Alderson said in late May that it was "very possible" Wright would be back in early June, so we'll take this with a grain of salt. Wright was cleared on Thursday to resume baseball-related activities and is slated to begin hitting by the middle of the week.

David Wright (back) will begin "twisting exercises" Saturday and is slated to finally start hitting by the middle of next week. The Mets are making sure Wright strengthens his core and back before putting him through hitting drills. He still has a few steps to take, but it appears a return around the All-Star break is likely. Wright has been sidelined since mid-May with a stress fracture in his lower back.

David Wright (back) is on track to return to the Mets lineup in approximately three weeks. Wright will head to Mets' extended spring training today. According to GM Sandy Alderson, Wright must "get looser and sort of reintroduce those muscles," before he can resume "extensive" baseball activities. "That's a several-day, maybe a week process. And then you're talking about batting practice and a whole host of other truly baseball activities before playing in a game. This still could be some period of time."

David Wright was cleared to resume baseball activities Thursday after visiting a back specialist. If everything goes smoothly from here on out, Wright should be able to return to the Mets' starting lineup in two weeks. The third baseman has been on the disabled list since mid-May with a stress fracture in his lower back. He left behind a disappointing .226/.337/.404 batting line.

David Wright is scheduled to have his back examined on Thursday. It was previously reported that he would see the doctor on Friday. Wright has begun light baseball activities over the past few days, consisting of some throwing and fielding grounders from his knees, but hopefully he'll be cleared to ramp up his rehab later this week. We're likely looking at a return just before the All-Star break.

David Wright said his back "felt good" after a limited workout on Sunday. Wright made 20 throws and took groundballs on his knees Sunday. He will ride a bike on Monday and hopes to do Sunday's routine again on Tuesday. He's expected to be sidelined until around the All-Star break. Justin Turner will continue to get most of the playing time at third base during his absence.
