David Robertson (oblique) threw his first bullpen session Saturday since landing on the disabled list.
The right-hander made it through the session without any issues. Barring any setbacks, Robertson is expected back in mid-June. He's expected to be used in a setup role in front of Rafael Soriano.

David Robertson (oblique) is expected to spend at least two more weeks on the disabled list.
"Robertson, I would shoot for not earlier than mid-June," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. Robertson has already played catch on flat ground a few times this week and reported no lingering discomfort in his oblique. But he still has to begin throwing bullpen sessions and batting practice before he can go out on a rehab assignment. In Robertson's absence, Rafael Soriano has locked down the closer's job and returned to fantasy relevancy. The man who led the AL in saves with the Rays in 2012 has converted all six of his save opportunities this year.

David Robertson (oblique) played catch Monday without incident.
Robertson is expected to play catch again Tuesday and could get back up on a mound before long. He will need a few minor league rehab appearances, so we're unlikely to see him back in the Yankees' bullpen until late next week at the earliest. Rafael Soriano is holding down the closer role during Robertson's absence and could keep the job even after he's ready to return.

David Robertson (oblique) will throw Monday in extended spring training.
Robertson is expected to need several rehab appearances before rejoining the Yankees bullpen. Manager Joe Girardi hasn't said whether Robertson will slide back into the ninth inning or pitch in a setup role in front of Rafael Soriano.

David Robertson (oblique) will begin his rehab work Thursday in Florida.
Robertson is eligible to return from the disabled list Sunday, but that won't happen. It's possible he could be ready for the June 1-3 series at Detroit. Yankees manager Joe Girardi won't say whether Rafael Soriano or Robertson will close when the latter returns. "Here's my prayer: Let's just get Robby back," Girardi said. "Let's just get him back to where he's comfortable and get him in a game before we start making official decisions."

David Robertson (oblique) will not be ready to return from the disabled list when he's first eligible.
Robertson previously expressed optimism about being ready to return after the minimum 15 days, but Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Monday that he will need more time. Oblique injuries can be very tricky, so this shouldn't come as a big surprise. Rafael Soriano will continue to hold down the closer role for now.

David Robertson underwent an MRI on his left ribcage Tuesday morning.
The Yankees are currently awaiting the results, but we should know more on his status later this afternoon. Robertson doesn't seem to think it's anything serious, but ribcage/oblique injuries are known to sideline players for weeks at a time. Rafael Soriano notched the save in Monday's win over the O's and is a must-add in all formats.

David Robertson is dealing with a sore ribcage and could undergo tests Tuesday.
Robertson initially felt soreness Friday and there's real concern now that his symptoms have lingered. We should know more on his status in the next 24 hours. Rafael Soriano notched his second save of the season Monday night with Robertson unavailable and should be owned in all formats.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that David Robertson's availability is "doubtful" for Thursday's game against the Rays.
It's understandable, as Robertson threw 25 pitches on Tuesday night and 19 pitches in Wednesday's blown save. Rafael Soriano has also pitched each of the past two days, but he's considered more likely to be available in a potential save situation.

David Robertson staked his claim to the closer's role against the Royals on Friday, entering in a non-save situation and striking out the side on just 15 pitches.
If there was any debate about who would be given the first shot at the job between Robertson and Rafael Soriano, it clearly looks like Robertson is the man now. Replacing a legend can be an extremely difficult thing to do, but Robertson has tremendous stuff and should have no problem finding success in his new role.
