Ortiz went 2-for-8 with a walk and his first homer of the season in Boston's 19-inning win over the Yankees on Friday.
Ortiz should be back in your daily lineups now that Boston has left a National League city. His nine plate appearances Friday matched his total in the three-game set when Boston was in Philadelphia to start the season.

Ortiz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
With the Red Sox playing in Philadelphia and not being afforded the luxury of the DH, Ortiz will sit out Wednesday in favor of Mike Napoli, who did not play in Monday's season opener. The Red Sox play once more in Philadelphia on Thursday, and it remains to be seen who will start at first base in that contest.

Ortiz will start at first base in Monday's Opening Day matchup against the Phillies, Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports.
Ortiz typically serves as the designated hitter, but will have to play the field in order to get into the Opening Day lineup in a NL ballpark. Though the fielding may be spotty, that doesn't necessarily matter from a fantasy perspective in most formats, so owners with daily lineup changes can safely deploy the slugger Monday.

Ortiz (general soreness) returned to the lineup Thursday after sitting out several days. He served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with an RBI.
Ortiz was shut down for a variety of reasons, including dehydration and flu-like symptoms. He struck out, popped out to short, hit a fielder's choice RBI, but was unconcerned about the rhythm in his swing.

Ortiz (general soreness) could get some minor league at-bats Tuesday or Wednesday in advance of returning to game action Thursday, the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham reports.
Ortiz is working his way back from the flu and dehydration, but with him scheduled to get back into game action this week, he appears to be on track to be ready for the start of the season.

Ortiz (general soreness) will remain out of the lineup through the weekend, the Boston Globe reports.
What started as dehydration has morphed into general soreness. Manager John Farrell said "he's dealing with a couple of things."

Ortiz will be unavailable for the next few days while recovering from a bout with dehydration, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Ortiz didn't seem to be overly concerned with the issue, but since he's now 39 years old, the Red Sox will give him a little extra time to recuperate. The designated hitter has appeared in six Grapefruit League games thus far, going 4-for-15 with a homer and four RBI.

Ortiz (wrist) arrived at spring training Tuesday, the Boston Globe reports. The slugger ended the 2014 season with some discomfort in his wrist, but there was no sign of it Tuesday.
It was a slimmer Ortiz who entered JetBlue Park in Fort Myers. He took batting practice following his physical and looked every bit the team's leader, joining newcomers Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval in what the three refer to as "Tres Amigos." There will be no talk of Ortiz' contract this spring -- the club holds options for the next two seasons that become guaranteed should he make at least 425 plate appearances.

Ortiz will receive treatment on his left wrist in the offseason but shouldn't require surgery, Sean McAdam of CSN New England reports.
Ortiz's numbers saw a great decline in 2014 from previous seasons, dropping from a .309/.395/.564 batting line in 2013 to .263/.355/.517 this season, perhaps his first sign of aging. The 38-year-old has been a mainstay in the middle of the Red Sox's order since 2003. Ortiz is a free agent in the offseason, but may receive smaller offers in the offseason that the $15 million he made in 2014.
