Swanson went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie shortstop is slashing just .156/.206/.281 through seven games to kick off the season, with a solo homer being his only real offensive contribution. The Braves will give Swanson a very long leash when it comes to shaking off this slump, as this is expected to be a rebuilding year for the team anyway, but if his bat doesn't begin to pick up fairly soon he could be facing a demotion to Triple-A, a level he skipped over completely in 2016.

Swanson went 3-for-3 with a walk, two doubles and three runs scored in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Despite a late start to the spring due to a strained side, Swanson is still slashing .313/.421/.500 in 38 plate appearances and seems ready to pick up where he left off in his impressive 2016 major league debut. The 23-year-old will be hitting second for the Braves this season, which could make him a very valuable source of runs given his advanced hit tool and solid on-base skills.

Swanson is batting leadoff and playing shortstop during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson has missed the past two weeks of major league camp with back tightness, but it appears that he's progressed well enough to return to live action for the Braves. He suited up in a minor league game yesterday, but did not play any defense. The fact that he's going to see time in the field today is a great sign.

Swanson (side) hit but did not play defense in a minor league game against the Tigers' Triple-A squad Saturday, going 2-for-3 with a home run, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "That's a good sign," Braves manager Brian Snitker said. "Hopefully they clear him and we get him in there (Sunday). But that was good. They said he had a really strenuous workout, the whole thing this morning, and then batting practice and all that. So, he's OK. That was good he got some hits."
EDGE Analysis
The promising rookie shortstop has been out two weeks with the injury, which was originally described as back tightness, so the Braves elected to bring him along slowly rather than throw him right back into Grapefruit League action Saturday. Assuming Swanson has no setbacks Sunday morning he's likely to be in the Braves' lineup that afternoon against the Cardinals, but don't be too surprised if he's only the designated hitter. The 23-year-old is still on target to be ready by Opening Day.

Swanson (back) will play in a minor league game Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson was expected to return to big league spring training action Saturday, but the Braves will instead opt to use him in a minor league game at the team's training complex. "Progression, probably the smart thing," Swanson said Saturday morning. "We were talking yesterday. I was like, I want to play, but let's not be my stubborn, competitive, let's-just-go-out-and-do-it-again... We just decided this was probably the best option. I'll be going through full BP (batting practice) today and doing some extra BP and stuff on the backfield after regular BP." Swanson added that he hasn't sustained any sort of setback, so the expectation is that he'll be back on the field for the Braves within the next few days.

Swanson (back) got through batting practice and a workout healthy Thursday, and manager Brian Snitker hopes he can get back in the lineup Saturday, Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The top prospect has been sidelined with an ailing back for about a week now, but after progressing through his rehab process quickly, his return seems to be imminent. As long as no setbacks occur, Swanson should be completely fine heading into the regular season.

Swanson (back) will not be in the lineup Thursday or Friday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson continues to make progress in his rehab, and remains available to take batting practice with during regular pre-game warmups. After a three-hour bus ride, however, the team will continue to take a conservative approach with the young shortstop by sitting him out through Friday.

Swanson (back) began hitting balls of a tee Sunday but is still days away from returning to Grapefruit League action, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The former first-overall draft pick seems to be progressing at a good pace, as he just got back to fielding drills late last week. The Braves definitely are taking this slowly with their dynasty shortstop, but Swanson appears to be on track to return to action later this week if all goes as planned.

Swanson (back) has participated in some fielding drills over the last two days and is slated to resume action in games within the next several days, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The blue-chip prospect's back soreness has kept him away from his normal work since earlier in the week, but Swanson appears to have taken a turn toward getting back on the diamond. Presuming he begins the season healthy, the 23-year-old should deliver a decent return when taken in the middle rounds of mixed league fantasy drafts. While the long-locked shortstop won't stand out in one particular category, his nearly across-the-board yield should do the job.

Swanson (back) is officially out of the lineup for Wednesday's Grapefruit League game, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The shortstop's back tightened up on him Saturday against the Marlins, and the Braves don't want to take any chances with their young star. "Yeah, [Saturday] was my first time playing that many innings, so just kind of getting used to being out there for that long," said Swanson. "Just a little bit of tightness, no need to push it past something and make it serious. Just kind of a day-by-day thing." At this point, there's no reason to bump Swanson down on any fantasy cheat sheets, but if the back issue lingers into next week, it'll be cause for at least some concern.
