Swanson has been dealing with a sore back since Saturday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports
EDGE Analysis
Swanson says he just needs a couple days of rest, so it's likely nothing serious. The highly-touted shortstop has been tearing up the Grapefruit League this spring, batting .438 with one home run and four RBI. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's split-squad game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
He's a robust 7-for-16 (.438) to begin the spring, with one home run and one stolen base. Swanson is showing every sign of being ready to build on his impressive big league debut in 2016, when he slashed .302/.361/.442 in 38 games.

Swanson went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
He's off to a fast start in his first spring training as a major leaguer, collecting hits in four of his first five at-bats. After slashing .302/.361/.442 in 38 games last season with the Braves, big things are expected from the 23-year-old Swanson as one of the centerpieces of a rebuilding roster.

Braves manager Brian Snitker plans to have Swanson hit second in the batting order this season, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swanson primarily hit near the bottom of the order in his MLB debut last season, getting 108 of his 129 at-bats from No. 7 or No. 8 spot, but he has the skill set to thrive closer to the top of the order. With Ender Inciarte as the Braves' leadoff man, and Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp hitting behind Swanson, the 23-year-old shortstop should get plenty of opportunities to rack up runs and RBI.

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, homer and scored twice in Thursday's win over Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
With his homer, Swanson continues to show he's slowly adjusting to big league pitching. All three of the shortstop's home runs have come since Sept. 6. During that span, the 22-year-old has batted .354 (23-for-65) with eight extra-base hits, 13 RBI and 14 runs.

Swanson is not in the lineup Thursday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Despite notching a hit in seven of the past eight games, Swanson will head to the bench for a night off. Gordon Beckham will enter the lineup as the shortstop for the evening.

Swanson went 3-for-5 with a steal, three RBI and a run as the No. 8 hitter in Monday's win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The 2015 No. 1 overall pick is now hitting .305 in his first 95 at-bats, although he's shown only modest pop and speed so far (two homers, two steals). The 22-year-old Swanson hit only .261 with eight homers in 84 Double-A games, so he's not a good bet for sustained fantasy value in his first taste of the majors, but the former Vanderbilt star is a promising asset for next season.

Swanson (groin) is in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie took an errant warmup throw to the groin midway through Monday's game, forcing him out of the contest with what the team deemed a right groin contusion. The ailment is apparently nothing serious, though, as Swanson is back at his usual shortstop spot Tuesday night.

Swanson was forced to leave Monday's game with a right groin contusion, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As painful as that sounds, this doesn't project to be an injury that will forced Swanson to miss an extended period of time. We'll keep an eye on his status, but consider him day-to-day for now.

Swanson went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and three RBI in the Braves' 9-6 loss at the hands of the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The home run was Swanson's first of his big league career, and came about because Nationals center fielder Trea Turner, a converted shortstop, badly misplayed a bounce off the wall. Still, Swanson will take it, as it's his first home run as a big leaguer and just his 11th at any professional level. The highly-touted rookie is now hitting .254/.297/.339 after 16 games with the Braves this season.
