Spangenberg was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left knee contusion, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.
Spangenberg suffered the knee injury during Saturday's game against Arizona after absorbing a hard slide on a double play turn. The Padres recalled second baseman Jedd Gyorko to replenish some of the infield depth lost with Spangenberg's move to the disabled list. Given that there is no structural damage in his knee, there is hope that Spangenberg could return shortly after he becomes eligible to come off the DL.

The Padres are expected to decide by Monday whether or not Spangenberg (knee) will require a DL stint, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
After he was removed from Saturday's game wiht a strained left knee, Spangenberg was formally diagnosed with a bone bruise on the knee Sunday morning, with the club ruling him day-to-day while they continue to evaluate the situation. An MRI showed that Spangenberg wasn't experiencing any tendon damage, but the bone contusion may be significant enough to sideline him for a couple of weeks. If that's the case, the Padres would likely use some combination of Yangervis Solarte and Clint Barmes to cover second base.

Spangenberg (knee) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Spangenberg departed Saturday's game with a strained left knee, and the team is yet to offer a return timetable. As a result, the infielder should be considered day-to-day until further notice. Yangervis Solarte is in the lineup at second base Sunday.

Spangenberg left Saturday's game with a sprained left knee.
Spangenberg initially injured his knee turning a double play in the first inning when he was slid into. It was not until the fourth inning when he was pulled after hitting a double. Clint Barmes came into the game to replace him and would likely see playing time should Spangenberg miss any games.

Spangenberg left Saturday's game in the fourth inning after hitting a double, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Spangenberg seemed to initially get injured after being slid into in the first inning as he was turning a double play. He remained in the game. Clint Barmes replaced him as a pinch runner and for the fifth inning in the field. The Padres should update his injury in the near future.

Spangenberg went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in a 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Spangenberg had gone just 2-for-20 over the last 10 days, so it was nice to see him break out of the slump. He's been seeing semi-regular playing time, but hasn't done a lot with it -- the steals were his first since June 2, and he hasn't homered since back on May 14, when he hit both of his long balls on the season thus far.

Spangenberg is out of the Padres' lineup again Wednesday.
The 24-year-old will sit for a second straight day and for the third time in four games, with Yangervis Solarte once again getting the nod at second base for San Diego. Spangenberg did log two at-bats off the bench Tuesday, but it appears his grip on the start role is loosening.

Spangenberg is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Padres broadcaster Bob Scanlan reports.
He will sit for the second time in three games as Yangervis Solarte takes over at second base against lefty Madison Bumgarner. Spangenberg does have a .324 OBP for the month of June, but he's stolen just one base after swiping four bags in May. Further, it appears his exposure to left-handed pitching will remain limited.
