Spangenberg (quadriceps) was doing some light jogging Friday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spangenberg has been out since April 20 after suffering a mild quad strain sliding head-first into a bag during a game the day before. He did have a setback in mid-May but it's an encouraging sign that he is finally jogging. Spangenberg recently began doing bunting drills, but has remained stationary when fielding ground balls. Barring another setback, he should be able to return to the Padres just after the All-Star Break.

Spangenberg did bunting drills Sunday morning, Carlos Collazo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In Sunday's workout, Spangenberg had limited mobility, but is expected to begin treadmill running during the Padres upcoming road trip. Up to this point, Spangenberg hasn't had much (if any) movement when doing drills and has been stationary when working on fielding ground balls. An exact return date has yet to be set, but Padres' manager Andy Green expects it to be around the All-Star break.

Spangenberg recently suffered a setback in his recovery from a quadriceps injury, MLB.com's Bill Center reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old progressed to running and taking batting practice earlier this month, but with the quad still presenting issues, the Padres have decided to shut him down from running for the time being. It's uncertain when he may be cleared to begin ramping up his activity. Jose Pirela has been serving as the primary second baseman with both Spangenberg and Jemile Weeks (hamstring) on the DL.

Spangenberg (quadriceps) progressed to running and taking batting practice in his rehab process, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Andy Green stated that he and Yangervis Solarte are making slow progress, but it's promising that some progress is being made after Green stated that they were not close to returning last week. There's still no timetable for Spangenberg to play in rehab games, so it will probably be a good amount of time before the 25-year-old returns to San Diego.

Padres manager Andy Green said Friday that Spangenberg (quadriceps) is not close to returning, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spangenberg will be eligible to come off the DL next week, but it doesn't sound the Padres expect to have him available anytime in the near future. He was cleared to begin running on an anti-gravity treadmill this week after suffering a mild quad strain April 19. Jemile Weeks has taken over at second base in the interim.

Spangenberg's MRI revealed a mild quad strain, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is probably the best news possible for Spangenberg, as the issue likely won't hold him out too long. He's been placed on the disabled list but remains without a firm timetable at this point. While the youngster focuses on healing the strain, Adam Rosales should continue serving as the team's everyday second baseman. Expect further updates as he begins progressing towards a return.

Spangenberg is set to receive an MRI on his injured quad Thursday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Spangenberg was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday after sliding awkwardly into first base during Tuesday's game. The MRI could create more of a timetable for Spangenberg's return, so look for more updates on his status after the results are released.

Spangenberg (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Reports surfaced earlier in the day that Spangenberg would likely require a DL stint following his ill-advised slide into first base during Tuesday's contest, and now the team has confirmed the move. Jemile Weeks had his contract selected from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move Wednesday and he figures to fill a role similar to Spangenberg's around the infield.

Spangenberg (quadriceps) will likely be placed on the disabled list, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't clear how long the 25-year-old would be sidelined due to the injury, but it appears that the ailment is serious enough that it will likely warrant a DL stint. Jemile Weeks is one candidate to fill his spot on the major league roster if he does in fact go on the DL, but Alexi Amarista and Adam Rosales are the more likely candidates for extra playing time at second base in his stead.
