Kluber is close to reaching an agreement on a long-term deal with the Indians, Fox's Ken Rosenthal reports.
Kluber still isn't arbitration-eligible and was renewed by the Indians on a one-year, $601 thousand deal earlier in March for 2015. This presumably would wipe out his arbitration years if a deal is agreed upon.

Kluber will be the Opening Day starter on April 6 at Houston, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
The move comes as no surprise after Kluber's Cy Young winning campaign in 2014. He'll look to build on that this year, starting off against Houston.

Kluber (illness) could have his first Cactus League appearance, scheduled for Saturday, pushed back due to the flu, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Kluber threw two innings in a simulated game Tuesday but was dealing with the flu Wednesday. Don't be alarmed if the Indians proceed with a little but of caution with their ace but this won't have any impact on his readiness for the start of the regular season.

Kluber has been named the 2014 American League Cy Young Award winner, ESPN.com reports.
Kluber's 269 strikeouts were just two shy of David Price for the AL lead, and the 28-year-old also posted the league's third best ERA (2.44) and sixth best WHIP (1.09). His 18 wins were tied for the AL lead, further helping his case for beating out both Felix Hernandez and Chris Sale for the award. After the best season of his career, the right-hander will join southpaw Clayton Kershaw in the 2014 class of Cy Young Award winners.

Kluber was brilliant again Friday night, tossing eight shutout innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out 11 in a 1-0 win over Tampa Bay.
What else is there to say about Kluber (18-9, 2.44 ERA)? The 11 punchouts give him a major league best 269 on the season, and he has clearly positioned himself as a strong candidate for the Cy Young award. He will no doubt be a popular target in fantasy drafts next spring.

For the second game in a row, Kluber struck out 14 batters Sunday against the Twins, allowing two runs over eight innings on seven hits and a walk. He picked up his 17th win of the year in the process.
With the back-to-back 14 strikeouts, Kluber is in the same company as the likes of Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez and Bob Gibson. It'll be interesting to see how early he goes among other aces in next year's drafts.

Kluber struck out a career-high 14 Tuesday, going seven innings while giving up just one run on seven hits and two walks against the Astros en route to his 16th win.
This was Kluber's ninth double-digit strikeout outing of the season, and he now has 244 on the season, which will make him one of the top targets among starting pitchers on draft day in 2015. He will get two more opportunities to pad those numbers this season, first on Sunday in Minnesota, and then his last start of the season will come Sept. 27 against the Rays.

Kluber (15-9) came two outs short of his second consecutive complete game Thursday against Minnesota, giving up just two runs on eight hits and striking out seven over 8.1 innings in the 8-2 victory.
With yet another terrific game, Kluber has now exceeded the 200-inning mark for the first time in his career. It's been a remarkable breakout season for the 28-year-old righty, who'll look to keep things going Tuesday against Houston as the Indians continue fighting for a Wild Card spot.
