Cole Hamels spun eight innings of one-run ball in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Nationals. Jayson Werth got to Hamels with a solo shot in the second, but that was the only tally against the left-hander. Hamels struck out four while giving up six hits and walking one. The southpaw has allowed one earned run in back-to-back outings to drop his ERA from 4.58 to 4.17. He'll finish off his first half at home against the White Sox.

Cole Hamels improved to 3-11 by limiting the Pirates to two runs -- one earned -- in seven innings and striking out eight on Thursday. Hamels finished June with a nice 33/8 K/BB ratio and adequate 3.94 ERA, so it's not as though he came in to today in some sort of massive slump. Given a little extra rest by the Phillies, Hamels threw 76 of his 103 pitches for strikes in one of his best outings of the season. He hasn't been his usual self in 2013, but 12 of his 18 outings have resulted in quality starts.

Cole Hamels' next start has been moved from Tuesday to Thursday in an effort to give him a few extra days of rest. "We just want to give him a blow and see if it won't help him some, see if it can get him feeling good about himself," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "He might benefit by clearing his head." Hamels is 2-11 with a 4.58 ERA in 17 starts this season. Manuel ensured a physical issue did not factor in the decision.

Cole Hamels was let off the hook Wednesday after giving up five runs -- four earned -- in six innings against the Padres. The Phillies were down 5-2 after six, but they came back to tie it in the eighth and win in extra innings, preventing Hamels from taking his 12th loss. Hamels allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out five. With a 33/8 K/BB ratio and three homers allowed in 32 innings, he seems unlucky to have a 3.94 ERA in June.

Cole Hamels was handed his 11th loss of the season Friday after he gave up four runs over six innings against the Mets. Hamels had a 3-0 lead, but squandered it by giving up one run in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and a go-ahead run in the sixth. He fanned five and walked three (one intentional) in the loss. While it hasn't all been his fault, the southpaw is the first Phillies' pitcher with 11 losses before the end of June since 1937. He'll bring a 4.50 ERA into a start against the Padres in his hometown of San Diego next week.

Cole Hamels gave up three runs on six hits over seven innings in his start Sunday against the Rockies He had seven strikeouts and only allowed two walks, but was out-pitched by Jhoulys Chacin. While Hamels has three straight quality starts, he continues to get little run support and was handed his 10th loss of the season. He'll look to get back on track in a matchup vs. the Mets on Saturday.

Cole Hamels allowed two runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Tuesday. Hamels couldn't pick up his second-straight win but also managed to avoid his 10th loss, giving up seven hits while striking out five. The start to his season hasn't been unlike what teammate Cliff Lee experienced last year, as Hamels owns a 4.45 ERA but is just 2-9 to show for it. His next start will come Sunday in Coors against the Rockies.

Cole Hamels fired seven innings of one-run ball Wednesday in the Phillies' 6-1 defeat of the Marlins. The performance gave Hamels his second victory of the year, pushing his season record to 2-9. He struck out 11 batters and allowed just one walk, throwing 81 of his 108 pitches for strikes. The left-hander should be able to keep it rolling next week against the light-hitting Twins.

Cole Hamels fell to 1-9 on the year after he gave up seven runs (six earned) in five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Friday. Run support wasn't the issue in this one. Hamels gave up a career-high 12 hits, though to be fair, four of them didn't leave the infield. The southpaw struck out three and walked none in the loss. Hamels' velocity is fine and his control has been a lot better in recent outings, so we're optimistic that better days are ahead. Still, this is what fantasy owners were hoping for on draft day.

Cole Hamels allowed five runs -- three earned -- over 6 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Nationals. Hamels was cruising until the bottom of the seventh inning, when a combination of bad defense and hittable pitches led to five Washington runs. The left-hander wound up yielding a total of six hits and one walk while striking out six. He's 1-8 on the year with a 4.57 ERA.
