Hamels allowed four runs -- three earned -- on six hits and a walk while striking out seven batters through six innings during Monday's loss to Seattle. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing 11 runs through 11.1 innings over his past two starts, this was a modest bounce-back showing from the lefty. Hamels is well past his prime but can still provide serviceable fantasy numbers, and especially when being selective with his matchups. Monday's seven strikeouts were a season high, and he sports a respectable 4.01 ERA and 1.13 WHIP for the campaign. Hamels projects to face the Twins at Target Field in his next start.

Hamels (5-1) gave up four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings in Tuesday's win over Miami. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Christian Yelich got to him for an RBI double in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fifth, the latter of which ruined Hamels' fantasy line, but his team put up 10 runs of support, which always helps. At 33 years old and with heavy mileage on his arm, Hamels appears to have entered a stunningly steep decline phase -- his 5.3 K/9 and 4.97 FIP are both career worsts by far -- but he's shown enough promise since coming off the DL in late June that fantasy owners shouldn't give up on him yet, especially in leagues that reward quality starts.

Hamels (4-1) allowed seven runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out just three batters through 5.1 innings during Thursday's loss to Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels also allowed seven runs June 26 in his first start back from a lengthy stint on the disabled list, but he had rebounded with a 0.82 ERA through his following three outings leading into Thursday. Things went south in a hurry against Baltimore, though, and the veteran southpaw's FIP is up to an alarming 4.84 for the year. Additionally, Hamels' 5.0 K/9 isn't moving the fantasy needle. It's probably best to expect more game-to-game inconsistency moving forward. Hamels lines up for a home start against Miami next.

Hamels (4-0) pitched 7.2 shutout innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday, allowing just four hits and recording five strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels handcuffed Kansas City hitters all night, cruising into the eighth inning before allowing a Whit Merrifield double on his 99th and final pitch. It marks the second consecutive start in which the southpaw has thrown 7.2 scoreless innings and lowered his ERA to a phenomenal 1.26 on the month while raising his K:BB to 12:1. The veteran starter has clearly regained his form after missing nearly two months with an oblique injury, a trend he'll look to build upon in his next scheduled start, Thursday against the Orioles.

Hamels (4-0) scattered three hits and a walk over 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out six in Friday's win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
He didn't allow a runner to reach second base and threw 65 of 95 pitches for strikes in the 10-0 blowout. After a rough first outing in his return from the DL at the end of June, Hamels has now delivered two straight quality starts. The veteran lefty will rest over the All-Star break before taking the mound again next Friday in Kansas City.

Hamels (3-0) allowed two runs on two hits while striking out six across 6.2 innings to earn the win Saturday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels gave up a two-run homer to Jose Abreu in the first inning before shutting down the White Sox the rest of the way to earn his third victory of the year. After getting roughed up in his previous start when returning from the disabled list with an oblique injury, he looked like the pitcher he was before missing time, and fantasy owners should use him with confidence. He'll make his next start Friday against the Angels.

Hamels allowed seven runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out just a single batter through 4.1 innings during Monday's loss to Cleveland. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels entered the start with a respectable 3.03 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, and considering Cleveland's potent and deep lineup, it was a daunting matchup to the mound for the lefty. He last pitched April 26, after all. However, with a a 5.30 FIP and 3.9 K/9, there are still a lot of concerns surrounding the veteran lefty. It isn't out of the question to be selective with his opponents going forward. A road date with the White Sox is up next for Hamels.

Hamels was reinstated from the disabled list Monday ahead of his start versus the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
It will be Hamels' first start since April 26 as he returns from an oblique injury and comes against a Cleveland team that scored just two runs over a three-game series against the Twins last weekend. The southpaw has a 3.03 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP over just five starts this year, a slight improvement over his 2016 numbers. Drew Robinson was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in the corresponding move.

Hamels (oblique) was confirmed as the starter for Monday's game against the Indians, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels, who has been on the DL since that start of May, was able to get through his Friday bullpen session with no issues, clearing the way for him to return to the big-league rotation. The southpaw compiled a 3.03 ERA and 15:12 K:BB in five starts (32.2 innings) before landing on the disabled list.

Hamels (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Friday, and if all goes well, he will likely start Monday against the Indians, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty built up to 81 pitches during his rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Frisco, and he now faces just one final hurdle on the road back from an oblique strain. Hamels turned in a 3.03 ERA in five starts before going down with the injury, but a dramatic decline in strikeout rate (4.1 K/9) and swinging-strike rate, and an uptick in hard contact against, suggest he was overachieving to a significant extent.
