Hamels (10-4) allowed two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out five batters through 7.1 innings during Saturday's loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Hamels entered Saturday's outing with a 6.03 ERA through his previous six starts, this checks out as a solid bounce back. The veteran lefty owns a respectable 3.96 ERA and 1.17 WHIP for the campaign, but his 6.0 K/9 is well below the 8.6 mark he entered the season with. Looking ahead, Hamels lines up for two tough upcoming starts. He'll face Seattle at Safeco Field and then host the Astros at home.

Hamels (10-3) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts through six innings to take home the win Monday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels recorded his first quality start since August 21 against the Angels and broke a three-start winless streak in the process. Still, Hamels owns an underwhelming 4.05 ERA, and the Rangers will need him to pitch more like the ace he has been in the past if they are to make a run to the playoffs.

Hamels (9-3) gave up five runs -- four earned -- over six innings Wednesday against Atlanta, striking out five while allowing six hits and two walks in a losing effort.
EDGE Analysis
All the damage against him came in a big second inning by Hamels' old divisional foes. Nonetheless, there's cause for concern with Hamels again (or should we say still?), as he's now allowed four-plus earned runs in four of his last five starts. The veteran lefty should only be deployed with great caution at this point. He'll next face the Mariners, who've put up four runs against Hamels twice already this year.

Hamels tossed five innings Friday against the Angels, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out five. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
For the second start in a row, the southpaw was unable to get much going on the mound. He needed 101 pitches to complete five frames, and just 59 of those went for strikes. After a stellar start to the month of August, the 33-year-old has fallen off as of late. He's given up 10 runs over his past two starts, raising his ERA 50 points to a lackluster 3.92 mark. Hamels still holds a solid 1.17 WHIP to go with a 9-2 record, but a low strikeout rate and an abnormally low BABIP suggest that his recent hiccups aren't just a blip on the radar. He'll look to right the ship in his next scheduled start Wednesday in Atlanta.

Hamels will make his next start Friday against the Angels, Gerry Fraley of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels could have pitched Thursday's series finale against the Astros on normal rest, but he'll instead be bumped back a day in the schedule after getting lit up for six runs and lasting just 4.1 innings his last time out Aug. 26 against the Athletics. Nick Martinez will move up in the rotation to pick up the Thursday start.

Hamels (9-2) gave up six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings in a losing effort against the A's on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Chad Pinder touched Hamels up for home runs in the first and third innings, and the A's piled on in the fifth before Hamels got the hook. Hamels has fared well in the second half for the most part, but the peripherals suggest he's overachieved throughout most of the season. More regression could be coming over the final month of the season.

Hamels (9-1) allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts over seven innings to earn the win Monday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels has now thrown quality starts in four of his last five appearances, a stretch in which he owns a 4-0 record and a 2.31 ERA. He was extremely efficient Monday night, as he needed just 92 pitches to finish seven innings. The Rangers have been keeping him under 90 pitches when possible since his return in late June. While he could be going deeper into games, it's hard to argue with the strategy given Hamels's recent success.

Hamels (8-1) beat the Tigers on Wednesday despite surrendering four runs on eight hits with five walks and four strikeouts in six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Hamels should buy his offense a Texas-sized steak dinner after this one, as the Rangers' bats erased two-run deficits in both the second and third innings before nudging ahead for good with a run in the fifth and pulling away with four in the sixth. Command was a major issue for Hamels, who walked a season-high five batters while also allowing multiple home runs in a game for just the second time in 15 starts. He excelled at damage control, though, using a timely pickoff to wriggle out of trouble after the Tigers had runners at first and third with one out in the third inning and later escaping unscathed after they loaded the bases with one out in the fifth. Hamels' next start is scheduled for Monday against an Angels team that he's limited to one run over 14.2 innings in two meetings this season.

Hamels (7-1) tossed seven scoreless innings to win his third straight decision in Friday's 6-4 victory over the Astros, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty has now delivered three straight quality starts and given up zero earned runs in four of his last seven trips to the mound, posting a 2.59 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB in 48.2 innings over that stretch. Hamels will look to keep things rolling Wednesday at home against the Tigers.

Hamels (6-1) allowed an unearned run and recorded five strikeouts during a complete-game win over Minnesota on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran entered with a 4.74 ERA through seven starts since returning from the disabled list June 26, and he'd allowed four runs or more in four of those seven outings. However, Saturday's showing was also his third without allowing an earned run during that eight-game stretch. Despite his game-to-game inconsistency, Hamels still owns plenty of upside, and being selective with his matchups moving forward isn't out of the question. Hamels lines up to make a home start against the Astros next.
