Paddack did not factor into the decision versus the Giants on Tuesday, pitching five innings and giving up three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
On a positive note, Paddack allowed less than four earned runs for the first time in his last three starts and extended his streak of walking one batter or less to 10 consecutive games. On the other hand, he failed to make it past the fifth inning for the fourth time in five starts and saw his ERA reach its high point of the season at 3.15. While Paddack has maintained a strong strikeout rate, his 5.76 ERA over the rough five-game stretch is a far cry from his early-season dominance. His next start is scheduled for Sunday in Colorado.

Paddack (4-4) suffered the loss against Philadelphia on Tuesday, giving up six runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings. He did not walk a batter but allowed eight hits while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie was hit hard for the third time in a four-start stretch that has seen his ERA rise from 1.55 to 2.97. The primary culprit has been the long ball; after allowing only two home runs in his first seven starts, he has now served up seven during the four-game rough patch, including two in Tuesday's loss. It bears mentioning that Paddack's last two appearances have come after he was scratched from a start May 29 with neck stiffness, though Paddack has yet to mention any lingering soreness. He'll look to get back on track when he faces the Nationals on Sunday in his next scheduled start.

Paddack (4-3) allowed four runs on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk across five innings while taking the loss against the Yankees on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
After skipping his last start because of a neck ailment, Paddack struggled in a tough matchup at Yankees Stadium. He tossed up three homers, and even though all of them were of the solo variety, that was enough to suffer the loss. However, Paddack came into the afternoon having allowed just four homers all year, and since he doesn't have to face the Yankees again, there's little reason to be concerned about the long ball with the 23-year-old. Despite the loss, Paddack is 4-3 with a 2.40 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, .170 batting average against and 62 strikeouts in 56.1 innings this year. He will face the Phillies at home in his next start.

Paddack (neck) has been cleared to start Wednesday's game against the Yankees in New York.
EDGE Analysis
He'll be taking the hill on eight days' rest after a sore neck prevented him from making his previously scheduled start Sunday in Toronto. Paddack will draw a tougher matchup as a result of being pushed back in the pitching schedule, but it's not expected that he'll face any restrictions in his return to action.

Paddack was scratched from Sunday's start against the Blue Jays with neck stiffness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Paddack apparently woke up with a stiff neck and will be unable to pitch in Sunday's series finale, with Robbie Erlin making the spot start. The Padres currently plan for Paddack to retake the mound Wednesday against the Yankees.

Paddack improved to 4-2 on the season after allowing one run on five hits while striking out seven in a six-inning start against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Paddack failed to make it out of the fifth inning in his previous start but looked as good as ever Monday. A small rally, involving no extra-base hits, got the Diamondbacks their only run in the third inning, but Paddack only allowed one other runner to reach second base the rest of the game. The rookie's ERA now sits at an incredible 1.93 through nine starts. He'll look to keep things going Sunday in Toronto.

Paddack will take his next turn in Monday's series opener against the Diamondbacks, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
For the first time all season, the rookie looked mortal while taking the loss Tuesday, serving up six runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk while lasting just 4.2 innings. Though Paddack would be available on four days' rest Sunday against the Pirates, he'll be denied a two-start week while the Padres stick to the plan they've followed all season and give him a fifth day off between turns. San Diego is expected to add a temporary sixth starter to the rotation Sunday, with Triple-A El Paso hurler Cal Quantrill probably representing the top candidate to fill the opening.

Paddack (3-2) struggled against the Dodgers on Tuesday, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk in 4.2 innings to take the loss. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie sensation breezed through the first two innings before a pair of two-run homers in the third turned the game around. Paddack had trouble putting hitters away in this one, as his three strikeouts were a season low. Meanwhile, the five hits he allowed were a season high -- which speaks volumes about how well we has pitched this year. Despite the rough outing, he'll take an impressive 1.99 ERA and 0.75 WHIP into Pittsburgh in his next start Sunday.

Paddack (3-1) picked up the win in Monday's 4-0 victory over the Mets, scattering four hits and a walk over 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out a career-high 11.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie was simply brilliant in a clash with reigning NL Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom and reigning NL Rookie of the Month Pete Alonso, generating a massive 21 swinging strikes among his 91 pitches (66 total strikes). Paddack allowed only one runner to even reach scoring position, and he now boasts a 1.55 ERA and 46:10 K:BB through 40.2 innings. With Cal Quantrill getting another start Tuesday and an off day coming Thursday, Paddack appears set to get some extra rest before taking the mound again next week on the road against the Dodgers.

Paddack will require workload management throughout the season, with the starter targeting 130 to 150 innings, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Paddack threw 90 minor-league innings last season, his first after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The Padres elected to start him on the big-league roster despite limited experience in the upper minors in order to avoid wasting his innings this season, and he's rewarded the team so far, recording an excellent 1.91 ERA in six starts. The innings target was given by the pitcher himself, as the Padres haven't specifically laid out their plan for the young hurler. So far, the plan has seemed to involve a pitch count (he's yet to throw 90 pitches) and a temporary six-man rotation, but changes could come down the stretch, especially if the Padres appear to be in line for a playoff berth.
