Owings is not in the lineup Friday against the Indians.

Owings got on base four times in five plate appearances Wednesday, knocking a single and a double to go with two walks, two steals, an RBI and a run against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
He's opened the season in impressive fashion, going 5-for-14 in the first three games of this four-game set with San Francisco. Owings is a burner who looks like he's going to get chances to play consistently at a number of different positions again this year, and he hasn't cooled off after posting great stats in spring training. He's a must-own player in deeper formats, but it may still be too soon to swipe Owings up in standard 12-team formats.

Owings is starting in right field and batting second Wednesday against the Giants, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks are showcasing what could be their go-to configuration against lefties, as they take on Matt Moore at home. The righty-hitting Owings, who hit seventh Tuesday against right-hander Johnny Cueto, moves into a more favorable spot in the order against the southpaw, with David Peralta hitting the pine and Nick Ahmed getting the start at shortstop. Owings has a career .244/.284/.381 slash line against lefties, but the Diamondbacks still have faith in the 25-year-old developing into at least an average hitter against opposite-handed pitching.

Owings will start at shortstop and bat seventh against the Giants on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
With right-hander Johnny Cueto taking the mound Tuesday, Torey Lovullo will shy away from his Opening Day lineup that stacked right-handed bats in the top three spots. Instead, Owings will slide down to seventh in the order while left-handed swinging David Peralta will jump up to the two spot. It seems this might be common against right-handed starters, but only time will tell.

Owings will start at shortstop and bat second in the order in the Diamondbacks' Opening Day game Sunday against the Giants, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With a tough left-hander on the hill for the opposition in Madison Bumgarner, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo will stack his lineup with right-handed bats in the top three spots. Owings will occupy prime real estate between A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt on Sunday, but there's a chance that Lovullo could drop the shortstop in the lineup when the Diamondbacks face right-handed starters.

Manger Torey Lovullo said Owings will receive the bulk of playing time at shortstop, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Owings has been in a tight battle with Nick Ahmed for the starting spot this spring, but it appears the team couldn't ignore his .345/.377/.534 slash line and two home runs. The 25-year-old is a suspect hitter but has shown flashes of talent, as evidenced by his .277 average and 49 RBI last season. Lovullo noted that Ahmed will still see "a number of starts," so the pressure is on Owings to perform early.

Owings is still battling with Nick Ahmed and Ketel Marte for the starting shortstop role, Adam Green of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.
EDGE Analysis
Owings is looking like the frontrunner for the position at this point in spring, as he is outperforming both of his counterparts at the plate. The 25-year-old is 17-for-41 (.415) so far this spring, while Marte is 11-for-41 (.268) and Ahmed is 10-for-45 (.222). There is still time for each individual to make their case, but time is running low as manager Torey Lovullo is looking to lock in a starting within the next week. "We're going to put the best shortstop out there that's going to help us win games, bottom line," Lovullo said. "That competition is still running thick, so we're going to try to figure that out here in the coming week."

Owings will see time on the outfield corners during spring training, The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Owings filled a void in center following an injury to A.J. Pollock in 2016. The Arizona Republic also reports that Owings could be an option to start in place of outfielder David Peralta against lefties while keeping 26-year-old Nick Ahmed in the lineup at shortstop. Owings hit .277 in 466 plate appearances across 119 games in 2017, also swiping 21 bases in 25 attempts. The 25-year-old has also appeared at second base during his time in Arizona, so it seems he could be in line to see opportunities in both the infield and outfield in 2017.

Owings signed a one-year, $2.3 million deal with the Diamondbacks on Friday, FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old middle infielder faces a job battle this spring, as he, Nick Ahmed, Brandon Drury and Ketel Marte will be competing for two starting spots. Owings is considered the favorite to start at shortstop in 2017, but his 86 wRC+ and subpar defense last season certainly opens the door for competition.
