The 25-year-old continues to deliver career-best numbers across the board in what could be an All-Star-worthy campaign.

Just 3-for-27 over his last seven appearances, Owings badly needed a bounce-back effort like this. Even with that slump, he's returned massive value for fantasy owners (most of whom likely plucked him off the waiver wire) by providing seven homers, 33 RBI and nine steals while being eligible at a number of positions.

Owings is not in Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.

He has cooled off a little at the plate, as was expected. Owings has a .205/.265/.341 slash line with one home run over his last 12 games (44 at-bats). Nick Ahmed, who has a 1.174 OPS over his last 23 at-bats, will start at shortstop and hit seventh, as it seems the Diamondbacks are valuing the recent small samples of the two shortstops.

Owings went 2-for-6 with an RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Pirates in 14 innings.

Owings played the hero in a game that last four hours and 40 minutes, driving in the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th on base hit. With the Diamondbacks back on the schedule Thursday in Miami, it wouldn't be a surprise if manager Torey Lovullo decided to rest some of his key regulars following the marathon victory, but since Owings just had a day off Sunday, he might not require a breather.
