Whitley (2-1) fired a scoreless seventh inning in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander needed a scant six pitches to get through his one frame after giving up an earned run on two hits in just two-thirds of an inning a day earlier. Whitley has experienced a couple of bumps in the road recently but remains one of manager Kevin Cash's more trusted options out the bullpen, compiling five holds, a 3.04 ERA and 0.98 WHIP across 26.2 innings.

Whitley (1-1) gave up four earned runs on four hits and a walk over an inning in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to the Rangers. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old opened the season with seven straight scoreless efforts but has given up eight earned runs in the 11.1 innings encompassing his subsequent nine appearances. Whitley's ERA and WHIP are still at a solid 3.13 and 1.00, respectively, and he's also amassed five holds, four of which have come in May.

Whitley fired three scoreless innings in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Yankees, allowing just one hit and notching three strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander had been touched up for a pair of runs against the Royals on May 11, but he's picked it right back up in the subsequent pair of outings. Whitley has fired five scoreless frames in his last pair of trips to the mound and has proven to be one of manager Kevin Cash's most trusted multi-inning options out of the bullpen.

Whitley fired a scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Royals. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Whitley has whittled his ERA down to a stellar 0.64, putting him behind only the Indians' Andrew Miller and the White Sox's Anthony Swarzak in that category with respect to AL relievers who've thrown more than 10.0 innings. The 27-year-old's sole slip-up came in his previous outing on May 5, when he gave up an earned run over 1.1 innings against the Blue Jays. The 27-year-old right-hander is not only a trusted late-inning option, but can work more than one frame in a pinch, as he's already done on five occasions this season.

Whitley (1-0) tossed three perfect innings in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Orioles, recording three strikeouts. He was also credited with his second hold of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Whitley fired 41 pitches overall, 27 of which hit the strike zone. He consistently got ahead of hitters, notching first-pitch strikes on all but two of the men he faced, and he now has four consecutive scoreless multi-inning appearances to open 2017. The 27-year-old's ability to eat up innings and his stellar work thus far figure to continue earning him an abundance of opportunity for the foreseeable future.

Whitley earned his first hold of the season in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Astros, giving up a hit and a walk over a scoreless 1.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Whitley got six outs on an efficient 22 pitches, marking his third strong appearance since being called up from Triple-A Durham on April 15. The 27-year-old righty has given up a hit in each trip to the mound but has yet to surrender a run over 6.2 innings. While his control could use some improvement -- considering he's issued at least one free pass in each outing -- he's been a pleasant surprise as a multi-inning option thus far.

Whitley fired two scoreless innings in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox, giving up a hit and issuing a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Called up from Triple-A Durham on Saturday as a result of Jake Odorizzi's hamstring injury, Whitley looked strong in his first 2017 appearance at the big-league level. The 27-year-old righty generated a 1-1 record, 4.15 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 13 innings this spring, and he'd made one start for Durham before being called up, giving up one earned run on a solo home run over three innings. Whitley is expected to be deployed out of the bullpen for the time being but can start in a pinch in needed.

Whitley was recalled from Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old just missed out on a rotation spot this spring, but with Jake Odorizzi (hamstring) landing on the disabled list, Whitley will get another shot at the major-league level. He has plenty of starting experience, so he seems like a good bet to make some spot starts until Odorizzi returns.

Whitley was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was working his way back from 2015 Tommy John surgery and said he's been happy with the way his arm feels. However, Whitley lost out on a spot in the Rays' rotation. He'll stick around as organizational depth should a need arise.

Whitley, who gave up a hit and walk while recording two strikeouts over 1.1 scoreless innings in Friday's loss to the Pirates, could be deployed as a long reliever if the Rays deal Erasmo Ramirez, Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old righty would provide the Rays with an experienced arm in the bullpen capable of going multiple innings, as he has 17 career starts under his belt, 16 of which came with the Yankees before Tommy John surgery. Whitley has had an uneven spring, generating a 4.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB over 11 innings across five appearances.
