Chase Utley is scheduled to take a second ImPACT concussion test on Monday afternoon. Utley was diagnosed with a mild concussion last Wednesday after taking a 91 mph fastball off his batting helmet. He passed his first ImPACT test Saturday and is not experiencing any severe symptoms, so things should go well on Monday afternoon. Utley is likely to return to the Phillies' starting lineup by the end of this week.

Chase Utley passed his IMPACT concussion test. Utley is not feeling any concussion-related symptoms and has now been cleared to resume baseball activities, but the first-place Phillies are likely to keep him out of the starting lineup until the end of next week as a precautionary measure. The second baseman suffered the head injury Wednesday when he was struck on the batting helmet by an Eric O'Flaherty pitch.

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro expects Chase Utley (concussion) to sit out at least through the end of the team's road trip, which concludes on September 14. We knew Utley would sit out this weekend, but evidently he'll be held out for at least an additional series, as well. "He's going to be re-examined on Saturday," Amaro said. "If the test goes well, he could go ahead and meet the team in Houston on Monday. But I don't expect him to play the next two series just so we can be cautious. That's my guess." Amaro added that the second baseman might also sit out next Thursday's doubleheader against the Marlins. "It's very mild, we think it's very slight, but it's a concussion nonetheless," Amaro said. "Chase is already feeling better. He's getting some rest. We'll know more Saturday."

Chase Utley (head) will not play this weekend. Utley suffered a mild concussion Wednesday when he was struck in the batting helmet by an Eric O'Flaherty pitch. It's not a major injury, but the first-place Phillies have the luxury of playing this one extra carefully. Utley should be back in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Astros. He will undergo an IMPACT concussion test two days from now.

Chase Utley (mild concussion) did not fly with the Phillies to Milwaukee. Utley was hit in the helmet with a pitch during Wednesday's game, after which Phillies GM Ruben Amaro said the team believes he is dealing with a "mild concussion." He is scheduled to see a doctor on Thursday and will likely undergo an impact test Friday to determine the extent of the concussion. The Phillies are optimistic Utley will be ready to play by the weekend, but with a playoff spot all but locked up, they obviously have the luxury of playing things safe.

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro said late Wednesday night that Chase Utley might have a "mild concussion." Utley was removed from Wednesday's game after getting plunked in the batting helmet by an Eric O'Flaherty pitch. He did not appear to be dazed, or in any kind of pain, but the first-place Phillies are going to play it as safe as possible with their star second baseman. He could be out for a couple games.

Chase Utley left Wednesday's game with a possible concussion. Uh oh. Utley was hit in the helmet by an Eric O'Flaherty pitch in the sixth inning and was eventually removed from the game in the eighth. The Phillies will likely provide an update on his status after the game, so stay tuned.

Chase Utley went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk in Wednesday's loss. Utley has had a down August after a fine July, but it'll get better. He lifted his average from .272 to .279 today.

Chase Utley hit a solo homer in Sunday's loss to the Nationals. It's Utley's first homer since July 29. While he hasn't looked like his old self since coming off the DL in late May, he has been able to play just about every day. And at the thin second base position, a declining Utley is better than most. He's hitting .253 with six RBI, two steals and nine runs scored in 17 August games.
