Utley is in perhaps the worst slump of his career, hitting .103 to start the season and .069 on the current road trip. This will likely mean another start for Cesar Hernandez at the keystone.

Utley has tallied just two hits since Apr. 24 and is just 9-for-87 (.103) this season, so he will get a night off Tuesday to clear his head. Cesar Hernandez will man the keystone in Utley's place.

Utley went 0-for-4 in Monday's win over the Cardinals. Utley has just two hits in his last 11 games and is slashing .113/.194/.210 this season. Manager Ryne Sandberg said Utley has been hitting the ball hard, so it is hopefully just a matter of time until he snaps out of this slump.

Cesar Hernandez will get the start at second base Thursday as Utley is out of the lineup for the second time in the last four games. Like many of his teammates, Utley has really struggled to start the season, slashing .120/.161/.240 with just two extra-base hits (both home runs) in 50 at-bats. He should be available as a pinch hitter Thursday.
