Anderson's club option was picked up by the Blue Jays on Monday, Robert Murray of The Athletic reports.

The Blue Jays acquired Anderson from the Brewers in exchange for Chad Spanberger earlier in the day. Milwaukee was likely going to decline the righty's $8.5 million option, but Toronto clearly acquired him with the intention of keeping him around.

The Brewers had reportedly been leaning toward declining Anderson's team option, so a change of scenery could be beneficial, although it's unclear whether the Blue Jays will pick up his option.

Anderson (8-4) allowed one run on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts across five innings while earning a victory against the Reds on Thursday.

Like most of the Brewers, Anderson is red hot, having allowed just two runs in his last 15 innings (1.20 ERA). In September, he's 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA. It couldn't have gone much worse for Anderson, as he was crushed for six runs in his first two innings before a disastrous third inning in which he managed to record only one out. The 31-year-old has a 4.54 ERA with 99 strikeouts through 20 starts this season. Anderson will make his next start Saturday against the Diamondbacks at Miller Park.
