McCormick was in the lineup for the third time in the last four games, though each has come against a lefty. Meanwhile, he's been forced to the bench in each of Houston's last three games against righties, suggesting he's fallen into a short-side platoon role. McCormick could see some additional at-bats with Yordan Alvarez (oblique) on the shelf but is still not seeing consistent opportunities to warrant much fantasy consideration.

McCormick is on the bench for a second straight game after he went 2-for-12 with five strikeouts while starting each of the preceding three contests. Even with Yordan Alvarez (oblique) recently moving to the injured list, McCormick looks as though he could find himself as the odd man out of the lineup more often than not. Kyle Tucker is locked in as the Astros' everyday right fielder, and Jake Meyers, Corey Julks and Mauricio Dubon have seemingly moved ahead of McCormick in the pecking order for playing time at designated hitter and/or the other two outfield spots.

All three of his knocks Friday were singles, but it's a sign of progress that he's getting back to making more consistent contact. He remains in competition with Jake Meyers for playing time in center field.

McCormick sent one out to left center off Joe Ryan in the second inning to increase the Astros' lead to 3-0. He now sits at four homers on the year and has doubled his home run total for the season with two in his last two games. The 28-year-old hasn't produced a whole lot at the plate outside of those two homers since returning from a back injury May 14. Since then, he's slashing just .184/.244/.421 with five extra-base hits, five RBI, two runs and a 3:12 BB:K over 40 plate appearances as he continues to fight for his playing time in center field with Jake Meyers.
