Despite that success, he's seen his playing time slip since Michael Brantley returned from the injured list in late August, particularly against righties. He's now been on the bench against three of the last four right-handers the Astros have faced, with Mauricio Dubon again starting in center field while Brantley starts in left.

McCormick snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast. In that span, he hit .292 (14-for-48) with three doubles and eight RBI. The homer got him to 20 long balls for the first time in his three major-league seasons. The outfielder has added 63 RBI, 54 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, 16 doubles and two triples while slashing .289/.371/.527 through 384 plate appearances. While McCormick has played well, he's likely to be in a part-time role between left field and center field, splitting time with Yordan Alvarez, Michael Brantley and Mauricio Dubon.

The 28-year-old started the past 16 games after missing a couple contests with a bruised knee and will receive Tuesday off with Michael Brantley (shoulder) activated from the injured list and making his season debut in left field. McCormick played all three outfield spots during that stretch and should continue to be a lineup regular given his .982 OPS in 39 games since the All-Star break.

McCormick had himself a pretty busy afternoon despite the Astros only scoring one run and compiling seven hits total. McCormick's contributions this season don't get talked about enough with the attention always on Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker, but he's put together a fantastic campaign and has found himself hitting right in the middle of the lineup as a near-everyday player. The 28-year-old is now slashing .280/.368/.517 with 15 homers, 47 RBI, 41 runs, 13 steals and a 31:86 BB:K in 300 plate appearances.
