McCormick (back) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Saturday with Double-A Corpus Christi, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
After some initial uncertainty, the Astros have officially decided to send McCormick down to the minors for some at-bats before bringing him back onto the major-league roster. It's unknown how long the team plans on keeping him on assignment, but if all goes well it's possible the 28-year-old outfielder returns within a week or so.

Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters before Wednesday's game against the Rays that it hasn't been decided if McCormick (back) will need a rehab assignment before returning, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick hit on the field during pregame warmups and also caught flyballs. The outfielder has been out of the lineup since last Tuesday because of his back tightness, and he also dealt with blurred vision prior to that injury. McCormick is unlikely to return before the start of May, and his relatively lengthy absence means a rehab assignment seems more plausible than not.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said McCormick (back) did some hitting and running on the field Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick was able to hit for the first time since he landed on the injured list a week ago. Baker said that McCormick will "probably" need a rehab assignment before coming off the 10-day IL, so the outfielder would seem to be at least a week or so away from rejoining the Astros. Jake Meyers has been handling center field since McCormick has been sidelined.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said Sunday that McCormick (back) won't be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick hasn't resumed hitting as of yet and will need at least a few more days before he's cleared to return to game action. Though the outfielder dealt with blurred vision earlier this month, his placement on the injured list this past Tuesday was the result of back soreness that he experienced while running.

McCormick was cleared to begin working out with the Astros on Saturday but hasn't resumed hitting as of yet, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick was placed on the injured list Tuesday due to lower-back tightness. The outfielder is eligible to come off the IL this coming Tuesday, but he'll likely need to complete a short rehab stint before the Astros are comfortable bringing him back. Jake Meyers should continue to regularly patrol center field while McCormick is on the mend.

The Astros are placing McCormick on the 10-day IL due to a back issue before Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters that McCormick injured his back Sunday and the placement on the injured list is not related to the blurred vision that kept him out for the last few days. While he is out, Jake Meyers will continue to see duties in center field. A corresponding move has not been announced just yet.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said "we don't know exactly when he'll be back" in reference to McCormick (eye) during an interview on SportsTalk 790 on Tuesday, Michael Schwab of The Juice Box Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick is experiencing blurred vision and will miss a fourth straight start Tuesday. Baker had indicated prior to Monday's game that McCormick could be available off the bench, but it now appears his status is very much up in the air. Jake Meyers is in center field again Tuesday.

Astros manager Dusty Baker told reporters before Monday's game against the Blue Jays that McCormick (eye) could be available as a pinch runner for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick is out of the lineup for the third straight game while he continues to experience blurred vision. It's a positive sign that he could be available off the bench, but there's no timetable for when he'll be back patrolling center field for the Astros.

McCormick (eye) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
McCormick will be on the bench for the third game in a row while he continues to experience blurred vision, which first cropped up during Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers. Jake Meyers will cover center field for the third consecutive contest, while Mauricio Dubon will handle leadoff duties in McCormick's stead.

McCormick (eye) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old's absence doesn't come as a surprise as manager Dusty Baker said the outfielder wasn't likely to start Sunday after sitting out Saturday's game with blurred vision. McCormick won't be available off the bench Sunday, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, and should be considered day-to-day. Jake Meyers receives another start in center field.
