Kuhl went five innings in a no-decision Sunday, giving up four earned runs on eight hits while striking out six and walking one in St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday evening's contest marked the fifth straight time Kuhl has lasted exactly five innings. His 59 K's on the season aren't bad, but his 2-6 record, 21 walks and seven home runs allowed across 15 starts (69.1 innings) certainly leave something to be desired. Kuhl is slated to toe the rubber again Saturday at home against the Giants.

Kuhl (2-6) tossed five innings of two-run ball in Milwaukee on Wednesday, working around seven hits and two walks while striking out six to earn the win.
EDGE Analysis
While it's nice to see Kuhl gain his first win since April 8 -- his first start of the year -- he was also inefficient once again, needing 98 pitches to finish his five frames. Kuhl hasn't finished six innings since his third start of the season, so even when he's been relatively effective, it hasn't provided a big boost for fantasy owners. He'll draw the Cardinals on the road Sunday.

Kuhl (1-6) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk over five innings in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Rockies. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
It was yet another short outing for Kuhl, who hasn't completed six innings in a start in almost two months. That lack of length makes him a risky fantasy play even under ideal circumstances, which won't be the case in his next start Tuesday on the road against the Brewers.

Kuhl will make his next start Wednesday against the Rockies, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl has been in a constant struggle throughout this season, accumulating a 5.63 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP in over 54 innings of work. Unable to make it past the fifth inning since April 18, Kuhl will get a couple more days off following his previous start Wednesday against the Orioles. In his normal place, Jameson Taillon is making his return (groin) while Tyler Glasnow is headed to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Kuhl (1-5) gave up one run on four hits and four walks over five innings while striking out four but came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
He threw only 50 of his 90 pitches for strikes in an inefficient outing, but Kuhl avoided serious damage thanks to two double plays and a pickoff at third base by catcher Elias Diaz. Given the poor showing by the Pirates' bullpen the team could have used a longer outing from the right-hander, who hasn't lasted longer than five innings since mid-April and hasn't won a decision since his first start of the year. Kuhl will next take the mound Monday at home against the Rockies.

Kuhl (1-5) allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take the loss Friday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl gave up a pair of homers to Neil Walker, and he was unable to keep the Pirates in the game in his matchup against Jacob DeGrom. With an ERA of 6.29, he's not a pitcher that fantasy owners can place much trust in unless he strings together a few solid outings in a row. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Kuhl limited the Phillies to one hit and two walks in five scoreless innings Sunday afternoon. He struck out five batters in a rainy no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
He entered Sunday's tilt by giving up 21 earned runs in his last 17.2 innings. The Pirates are looking for Kuhl to reestablish a ground-ball rate that has dropped from 57.5 percent (for High-A Bradenton) in 2014 to 40 percent in 2017. Since last year, he's increased his average fastball velocity from 93.1 mph to 95.1 mph, but the team wants him to throw more ground balls. Kuhl will next face the Mets over the weekend, a team he's never pitched against, but could present a good matchup for the 24-year-old.

Kuhl (back) has been cleared to start Sunday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Though he wasn't forced to depart early in his most recent start Tuesday against the Nationals, Kuhl, who was shelled for six runs on 10 hits and a walk over four innings, complained of back pain after the outing. The back issue may have contributed to Kuhl's lack of success, and despite being deemed ready to go Sunday, the right-hander doesn't make for an especially enticing option in DFS contests while he maintains a 6.69 ERA on the season.

Despite touching 100 mph Tuesday, Kuhl appeared to be dealing with back issues during his outing against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Head trainer Todd Tomczyk visited with the righty in the first inning after he struggled to get loose. Even though Kuhl is averaging less than five innings over his first seven starts, he doesn't appear to be in jeopardy of losing his rotation spot -- unless his back causes more problems. Lefties are batting .414 in 58 at-bats against Kuhl.

Kuhl (1-4) allowed six runs on 10 hits and one walk across four innings in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Kuhl Was ineffective for the second consecutive outing, allowing runs in four separate innings and receiving his marching order after putting the first two men he faced in the fifth inning on base -- both of whom came around to score after he was removed. After three solid outings to begin the season the right-hander has allowed a whopping 21 runs in his last 17.2 innings to send his ERA skyrocketing to 6.69. It is unclear how long the Pirates are willing to tolerate Kuhl's poor results, but he is currently scheduled to start Sunday against the Phillies.
